When you are a pressure fighter, like Hatton, you need to be able to do just that- pressure. Ricky already has a problem with slick fighters, but now every fighter at 147 is going to give him a nasty tussle. How can Hatton do what made him so famous if the men he is fighting are naturally bigger than him? At least at this point, based on the Collazo fight, Ricky has shown that he lacks the ability to cut off the ring and pressure a guy like he needs to. David and Goaliath can work with a speedy boxer/ monster puncher match-up...but honestly if Ricky Hatton plays the David role, in this scenario he's without a slingshot.

I think he can certainly fight at welter, but would be wise to stick to the smaller welters like Zab Judah, Oktay Urkal and Floyd Mayweather. Larger welters that could go up to junior middle are too big for him IMO. He'd struggle with the reach cos he's got really short arms.

IMO, Hatton should go back down to light-welter. At 140lbs I think he will defeat anyone in contention. When Hatton fought Tszyu, Tszyu was being hailed as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

Hatton has defeated Ray Oliveira - who at the time was considered a tough test and had never been stopped, in a tenth round KO. Of all the times I have watched Hatton (admittedly not 41 times), he has never looked troubled until the Welterweight fight with Collazo, and even then only one of them touched the canvas and it wasn't Hatton.
Hatton is a great fighter. It's time for him to face the best around, and I think he can credibly do that at 140, and not be criticised for ducking opponents. Really I think Baldomir and Mayweather are the only 'must fights' at Welter, and who says he has to go up to them? Hatton (41-0-0) has a better record than Mayweather (36-0-0). So why is Hatton always touted as chasing Mayweather. Hatton would win, in my view, simply as he has grat stamina and power, not to mention good handspeed and a body and chin to compare with the best (Hatton has only been down once).

At Light-welter, Hatton could fight (and beat, as far as I am concerned), Cotto and Catillo, in between those two see off Junior Witter and Paulie Malignaggi, and if PBF, Margarito or Baldomir want to fight him, he should hold out for 140. No one can say he has to disadvantage himself for these guys. If they are that confident, if all the Hatton-hating yanks on here are that confident, then lets see them lose a few pounds. It'll never happen, and the real reason will be, they don't want to lose to the Hitman.

Hatton can't naturally fight at 147, I think thats true, but PBF and co. have made names and careers for themselves by being two-and-three weight champions, so it wont kill them to pick up another light-welter belt (or big-name scalp) will it? Except they haven't got it. Not like the Hitman.

It probebly had more to do with the style matchup and his collazo not being intimidated.

Because Mayweather had the better pedigree so far. Hatton hasn't beaten anyone in the top p4p except Koz and some think he was on the down hill (not me). Floyd beat 2 guys that are still going strong today in Corrales and Castillo and has beaten other contenders/title holders like Jesus Chavez, Genaro and Carlos Hernandez etc. I just want to see the fight happen and I think its most competitive at 140. I think its a tough fight but Mayweather pulls out a decision or stops Hatton on cuts (he cuts easily)
