Can Hatton Fight at welter

Not to mention he needs to fight Collazo again they have unfinished buisness. Hattons tenacity heart and quick short punches will keep him competative but against bigger guys? I honestly dont think he can hang at welter. He has a better chance against guys like Castillo , Cotto and maybe even Chico. All the big Kahunas at welter would feast on him. The only name at 147 i can see him beating is Zab Judah. Guys like Margarito, Mayweather, Baldo and Mosely are just too big for him. At 5'5 he is just too damn small... ok maybe he's close to 5'6 but that is a very short welterweight.

Honestly I thought he looked small at 140 some times depending who he was fighting. He could give cotto a big fight if it is at 140 but if they fight at 147 cotto will be way to strong for him. I think hatton might have backed himself into a corner by moveing up.

Its not going to be his best weight,but he'll have to campaign there to make the big bucks.Theres some decent fighters @140 harris,arnoutis&Malignaggi and I guess castillo.But a fight with cotto(who said he is definetly moving up) and Mayweather will have to happen @147.

funny because he's spent his whole career at 140 when he can easily be a 135lb fighter as well. All the 140 guys eventually go up so i guess he just wanted a piece of the pie there as well. What happened to Gatti at 147 will happen to Hatton. Guys are just too big and strong...not that i'm comparing skill level, just the move up.

I dont think he could have ever been at 140. He had serious trouble making weight at 140.

you mean 135 not 140 right ?
either way it's just different i guess to see a guy at 140 his whole career then move up to 147 only to see how much smaller he is compared with the bigger 5'9 - 5'11 welters.

I have read a few reports from hatton and his camp saying he felt strong at 140 at the begining of the year or so and that ricky felt comfotable at 140. Don't quate me but I remeber quite a few articles a couple months after the kosta fight that he was good of course all the big names were still in that divison at the time.

Hatton was strong as hell at 140, and he was making it time after time. I don't know what the hell PBF34 is talking about.

I think Hatton can fight at Welter but he's going to have to pick and choose. If he stays at 147 he gives up one of his biggest assets which is his size and strength.

Like I said before he did not strike me as big at 140 at least when gatti and cotto who looked much bigger, but I agree that he seemed comfortable there and now maybe put himself in the corner at 147.
