No announcement yet.
SCORECARD: After replaying GGG-SD, I have it 7-5 GGG. Not as close as first thought.

That said, I had him down 6-4 going into the 11th round. He won the 11th and 12th on my card to pull out a 1 point win because of the 1st round knockdown. I could see someone having 7-5 either way honestly. It was far from a robbery in any case but GGG looked terrible in alot of spots in that fight and I even turned to my wife st one point and said I think he's gonna get knocked out when he took a few body shots and started retreating.
He may have gotten old overnight or he may have been sick or Derevyanchenko just maybe a top level talent liked he showed who knows.
I think Canelo would be ****** to not take the 3rd fight based on what we saw Saturday. He's the fresher of the 2 and already proved he can hang through 24 rounds of the 2 fights.

I think this is a fight that coulda went either way. It was no robbery doe. Mfers too quick to call fights robberies these days. If its close, like this fight was, its a more reasonable take to say it coulda gone either way & it been a fair decision. When a fight has as many close rounds as this one its easier to come to this conclusion even if some folks dont enjoy thinking of scoring like this.

Round 9 I felt that SD had control of the round and was backing up GGG with his work rate. Golovkin seemed a bit hesitant to me other than in the beginning when he landed a big shot
Round 12 I thought was full of action but SD just had more pop and energy with a strong body attack. G was gassed
I felt that in the 12th GGG was landing the harder shots, and SD was doing more of the holding.

SD was very active, but many of his shots landed on GGG's gloves or elbows, and many hit air.
GGG was landing much harder shots.

Lots of D'chenko's activity was actually blocked. The fight was close by all accounts, but the real tale was told by comparing the two faces after it was over. GGG looked like he'd been in a serious fight. Dereyanchenko looked like he'd be run over by a truck.
That said, Banks is right. He needed more punch output and movement. Don't know if a fighter's style can change that much after hundreds of successful bouts, though.
