They overplayed their hand by trying to get more money and it didn't work out. As far as danger involved in facing either, I don't think they looked at Canelo and assumed he'd be too difficult to beat so they went with ggg. Things worked out as they did bevause they tried to squeeze more money out of a Canelo fight. While ggg is older and slowing down, Sergey could've had a shot vs Canelo. He's a busy fighter who'd force canelo to fight fast which is something he hates to do. And it's not like Canelo is knocking people out at mw.
I totally agree with you 100 percent! Sergey would of gave Canelo one hell of a fight and by no means would that be an easy fight for Canelo.
So you gotta agree with me then Sergey and his team (including Al Haymon) are some ****** motherfuccers if their plan all along was to squeeze more money out of Golden Boy promotions...
Yes i agree that a fighter and his team have to try to get all they can from an opponent but at the same time they gotta know when to give in and accept what's being offered....
I guess the plan they had backfired on them cause now they ended up with no Canelo fight and no belt..
It's back to the drawing board for Sergey and his team..

agreed. Now what did work out for them is they did well vs ggg and many people thought he won, so he should land some decent payday from that performance, even if it's a ggg remstch.

I watched this fight after knowing the result and hearing all the talk about it . Im not sure where this fight of the year war talk has come from. It was a good close fight but people are getting carried away

          Gatti/Ward was more like Morales/Barrera.

You cannot trade with Glovkin for long without hitting the canvas.
Derevyanchenko fought with extremely-focused tactical skills.
... of course... (DiBella just can't understand what the "ex-Soviet school" is really about...)... but nevermind...

Yes definitely! Sergey did great against triple g and i had him winning!
Would love to see him against Andrade, Charlo, and Canelo.
It be interesting to see how Andrade and Charlo react to a fighter who applies non-stop pressure....
While Kirkland is no Sergey we already saw how Canelo reacts to that type of fighter. We haven't seen Andrade or Charlo in the ring with that type of fighter...
            Tell me this...
Do you think Al Haymon let's Sergey fight Charlo?
            If so who wins??

Haymon should let charlo fight him because he needs to prove himself. Around the time thag Charlo ko'd j rock, I thought highly of him and felt he'd be a real problem for anyone, but now I'm not so sure. His last couple of performances have underwhelmed and I'm not sure if I'm seeing progression with him.

I agree with you! I haven't seen much progress from Charlo since he knocked out Julian Williams.
I think the only way he'll improve is by being in them tough fights.
I'd favor Sergey if they fought but Sergey does get hit allot and is careless at times so i won't say Charlo can't beat him.
Charlo has good reach and great power so it would be a great fight if they fought.
Would love to see that fight!

there si many good fights that can be made from 160-168. Alot of young prime fighters, hopefully they can get past all the politics bs and make it happen. Welterweight division is an example of a division with so much talent but it's been somewhat of a waste because you don't always get to see the best fight the best. I just wanna see good fights where you really don't know who will win going into the fights.

Yes of course! Many great fights that aren't being made and it sucks for us fans!
Would love for Hearn, Haymon, arum, and Oscar to sit down and talk and come to a mutual agreement where they're all willing to send fighters across the street and make the best fights.
