  • Comments Thread For: DiBella: GGG-Derevyanchenko F***ing WWIII; Like Gatti-Ward

NEW YORK Lou DiBella was Micky Ward's promoter when Ward went toe-to-toe with Arturo Gatti in what's revered as one of the most incredible action fights in boxing history. Seventeen years later, DiBella felt as though he witnessed something similar Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Sergiy Derevyanchenko's promoter applauded his fighter and Gennadiy Golovkin for producing perhaps the "Fight of the Year" for 2019, an unbelievable brawl that sent both boxers to the hospital and left appreciative, awestruck fans wanting more.

Same can be said for the dumb ****s who kept saying GGG was ducking Sergey only to turn around and fight him when he himself is more vulnerable and Sergey more confident

I would say this is more like when some people say Canelo ducked ggg. ggg and Loffler said Canelo wouldn't last 12 rounds with ggg.

Guess what, Canelo beat ggg and even ggg's corner said it after the fight.

Nobody ducked anybody. How would Sergey know that the ibf would strip Canelo (because golden boy f'd up.. As per Canelo) and then make Sergey vs ggg for a vacant belt? Canelo would still be ibf champion had golden boy been thorough in their communication with the ibf. There was no way for Sergey to predict those chain of events.

Except you ended up exposing yourself at being dumb ****er because GGG was most vulnerable a year ago when he could loose 2nd Moneygrab Canelo fight in comparison to yesterdays situation where 3rd Canelo fight is thin anyway.

Or you actually believe GGG's talks about his boxing interests after he dropped IBF belt instead of his actual business interest and hence business-wise vulnerabilities?

I agree with Dibella. Great fight. Glad that I attended. Nothing like a night at the fights. MSG has comfortable seats and great sight lines. The mecca of boxing!

Why would he duck Canelo who is by far the easier fighter to beat? Maybe he didnt wanna get ripped off by the judges like every other fighter that fights Canelo. Yeah he manned up and took the stiffer challenge in GGG and almost beat him...something Canelo couldn't do.

C'mon man! It's not hard to predict what was gonna happen if Sergey refused to take Golden Boy promotions offer...
Just cause Golden Boy promotions refused to tell Canelo that a deal needed to be in place by a certain deadline or the IBF would strip Canelo don't mean DiBella didn't tell Sergey that.......
EVERYONE KNOWS there's no way in hell Canelo would ever go to a purse bid for a mandatory fight. Canelo isn't giving anyone a percentage as per IBF rules.
So if ANY fighter works his way up to be Canelo's mandatory then all they gotta do is keep refusing the offer made by Canelo and his team and Canelo will eventually get stripped cause there's no way Canelo is going to a purse bid and pay a fighter more than necessary in order to keep the belt.
And since everyone knew that Sergey and Triple g are the two top contenders for the IBF then it's only obvious that them two would fight for the title if it became vacant....
So yes Sergey and his team knew what they were doing by refusing Golden Boy's offer to fight Canelo.
DiBella just said they talked about Canelo but it's the Triple g fight they wanted all along so read between the lines man...
Sergey ducked Canelo in order to fight Triple g cause that's the fight they wanted all along....
And i can't really blame Sergey for it cause i had him winning last night. Yes he was robbed but if the decision had gone his way then he'd be on top of the world right now with multiple big money options on his hands....
                  FACTS!
