Everyone acts like Usyk is the best thing since slice bread because he won the same tourney Callum Smith won for his weight class. And Callum Smith did it in a more spectacular fashion because Usyk struggled with two boxers and won one of them by a SD. Prior to the tourney - Usyk didn't fight anyone and I remember seeing him struggle against some African boxer.

It's a mix anti-British bias and overrating Eastern European boxers like most have been doing of late.

It's the level of opposition through the tourney I think and his win over Glowacki prior to that. Basically the dude cleared every top name in his division with the exception of Dorticos in their home towns.

Breidis, Gassiev and Huck were better regarded than Skoglund, Holzken and Groves by so far it ain't even a real comparison. That's not to say Mundo ain't a really good fighter, cos he is, but in terms of accomplishments they aren't particularly close.

Usyk I think gets a bit of a boost just for being Ukrainian. With Lomachenko and The Klitschko’s, I think Ukrainians are instant boogeymen. Like I said, just a bit of a boost. This isn’t anything major. I think it has a LOT more to do with the Cruiserweight tourney being a **** ton more stacked. Lots of 0’s at the end of people’s records throughout that whole tourney

Callum Smith could break into the North American market pretty darn good if he picks up a win against Caleb Plant and/or David Benavidez. Beating one or both of them will propel his popularity quite a bit. Both of them are currently more popular on this side of the world
