Why doesn't Callum Smith get the same praise as Usyk?

I'm not saying Usyk is great, just more proven than Callum....Josh is too.

I see plenty of people call both Josh and Usyk great. The only name mentioned in this thread that isn't called great all over this forum is Callum Smith and it's for the reasons I already explained. Not a gold medal winner, not an undisputed, not even close to it.

I'm not a massive fan of Josh or Usyk but I understand why both of those guys have more respect than Smith. Smith hasn't done anything.
In as much as I’m a big AJ fan and I think AJ is a special talent (the best in the HW division and most accomplished), I don’t think he’s great yet. For him to be great, it has to start with him knowing how to fight short heavyweights. You can’t be called “great” when you don’t know how to use your height advantage and have struggled with short fast guys since he started boxing because he likes squatting against midgets while trying to fight like Mike Tyson. You just can’t do that. And his elevation to greatness will start in the Ruiz rematch by using his height and physical tools, then adapting in-fight like he did against Dillian Whyte and Povetkin. But he beats every other heavyweights 6’5 and over right now.

That said, I’ve seen a lot of people call AJ average and overrated. But the same idiots would call Usyk and Fury great boxers, lool. Even a bum like Wilder with one overrated trick good for the overmatched bums he fights get called “great”. LMAO.

Anyway, I don’t think Usyk is a great boxer and anything special. He also hasn’t really been tested. And his workrate, burst in late rds and footwork (which isn’t really great tbh) got him this far. I want to see him box when the late rage burst isn’t there and fight boxers who can mix it up - not South Africans and all the Eastern Europeans that populate his resume.

Smith has done more than Wilder and Errol Spence. Who have these two fought? George Groves was more accomplished when he fought Smith than Porter. And Wilder hasn’t beaten anyone. But folks hype them up. And it’s not like Usyk beat any ATG or anyone special.

You keep bringing up names....I don't understand, this is about Smith and Usyk.

Wilder's defended his title more than most champions who ever held one.

Joshua's gathered more titles than most men ever called champion.

Usyk went undisputed in an era when undisputed is very rare

Fury defeated the longtime champion on points.

Yes, a lot of people do hate on all those names. I hate on 3/4 of that list myself but everyone of them has done something that's enough to understand why they have good vehement fans.

Smith hasn't. Just because you like the kid doesn't mean he's done anything.

Joshua got KTFO the EXACT same way I said he would as soon as he debuted and will again if he doesn't fix his posture issue.

Wilder and Fury showed the world both their asses in a fight people struggle to not have their biases dictate the narrative to.

Usyk has accolades and no real resume because CW is a meh division.

Fury got cut by a bum.

Wilder can't box, doesn't even know boxing really, he's more like a bare knuckle era fighter.

Plenty of reasons these guys are exaggerated too, but, they get exaggerated because they've done more than *******s like Callum who I guess we're meant to praise out of nowhere for no real reason other than "But Usyk doe"

I don't believe Callum is the next Ward myself. I don't see any reason to.

Usyk became undisputed and won all four titles in three highly regarded, unbeaten champions home countries (Glowacki, Briedis, Gassiev) and also KO’d two well respected ex world champions in their home countries (Huck & Bellew) both of whom are at least the equal of Groves.

Smith is a good fighter too though.

Before the tourney - Usyk didn't fight anyone. The guy just has a bunch of South African boxers on his resume. And when did South Africa become a boxing country?

And after the tourney - the only person he fought is an over-the-hill Bellew who was winning on all cards before he got knocked out.
Usyk fought much better comp on his way to winning.

He fought his fellow Eastern Europeans and an overrated German. Then Hunter and a bunch of South Africans.

Usyk is overrated and he's not great at anything.

Usyk also had a distinguished amateur career where he won both an Olympic Gold medal and a World Championship. When a fighter has an amateur career like that, and he backs it up in the pros, he's going to receive more hype than a fighter who didn't.

On top of that, Usyk is just a better fighter. He also won all his belts in his opponents backyard, which is highly impressive.

                Glowacki - Germany
                Briedis- Latvia
                Gassiev - Russia

Plus he's undisputed, which Callum Smith is not. I could go on.
