can you imagine what hearns or SR leonard would do to spence? I give porter a lot of credit he comes to fight has limited skills but fights his heart outComment

The rationalisation is simple - Spence was the victim of promotional hype. It doesn’t mean he was exposed, because he is not a bum or a bad fighter. He is just not what the hype painted him out to be, and is simply one of the group of welterweights which nothing really separates them. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Then how could explain and rationalize Shawn Porter's performance against Erroll Spence where he was a huge underdog but you just brushed it off as nothing special?
Spence was regarded as the top of the food chain at 147 who everyone avoided. So why shouldn't Porter get special recognition for his performance against the most ducked and avoided man in the division if the division is not loaded and stacked with talent.
You just refuted your earlier statement which said that Spence was just overrated and Porter's performance was just simply ordinary.
So what did you mean when you said that "He wasn’t exposed
He just showed the hype wasn’t warranted, which is nearly always the case for many fighters
There’s nothing much separating the likes of Garcia, Thurman, Porter and Spence. They can continue to SD each other until the end of time
As I mentioned earlier, it’s a fairly simple picture. Spence, Garcia, Thurman and Porter can fight each other in close fights for eternity. A 40 year old Pacquiao is beating that level of fighter clearlyComment

Crawford is an unknown. We haven’t seen what a welterweight Crawford is capable of yet.
Pacquiao has clearly beaten Thurman, one of the jumble of fighters who has or would be in a close fight with each other - Porter, Garcia and Spence. I see no evidence to suggest he wouldn’t do the same to any other of those fightersComment

What is this dumb crap? Why do folk come out with this nonsense every time a dude has a tough fight?
Ima just go ahead and copy-paste the same **** I wrote in a different thread cos I can't be bothered typing it all again...
Straight up. Very rare I stay up to watch the US fights these days, specially the West coast ones but this time I'm glad I did even though I didn't get my ass to bed until 6.30a.m.
Absolutely superb fight with both guys giving their all and both guys showing the kinda will and desire to win that champions are made of. Can't believe I'm seeing ish about Spence being 'exposed' even though I only thought he won by the narrowest of margins... this is exactly the kind of fight that shows me that a guy has got what it takes. It's like people just forget that even the best in the world get touched up and have tough fights when they face other top level guys - even Floyd did, even Manny did, but there's this weird revisionism goes on makes people forget this and think that struggling through adversity to eke out a close win is somehow evidence that a fighter ain't that special, whereas to me it's exactly the quality I want to see. Everyone gonna have tough fights, it's how they deal with it that counts.Comment

By your own rationalization and explanation that is what I meant by saying the 147 pound division is a very stacked and loaded division with lots of talent because just as you said that either of these guys can SD one another on any given day; For the exception of Manny Pacquiao.
As I mentioned earlier, it’s a fairly simple picture. Spence, Garcia, Thurman and Porter can fight each other in close fights for eternity. A 40 year old Pacquiao is beating that level of fighter clearly
I doubt seriously that Manny Pacquiao would fight any of those guys unless he is ready to call it quits for his boxing career. Given his age of 42, loss of stamina and slowed timing and reflexes. He wouldn't stand a chance with these young guys down in the trenches.Comment

Your prior post kinda glosses over what type of ‘adversity’ Spence faced. It wasn’t a temporary thing, where Spence showed some lions heart to overcome and carry on as usual. This type of adversity is simply Spence fighting someone of his own calibre, and the result and fight showed that clearly. He didn’t overcome that type of adversity because it will reappear every time he fights someone on his own level.
The hype suggested Spence was well above that calibre of fighter, I.e someone who would beat any welterweight clearly, and likely have huge success at higher weights. I think that is clearly wrong. Spence showed he isn’t much above Porter (if at all) and Brook, and Porter has shown he isn’t above the likes of Thurman and Garcia. Unless this is some mysterious blip on the radar, I think it shows exactly the type of calibre fighter we are looking atComment

Who did Crawford beat with the strong awkward smothering style Porter has?
Don't anyone dare say Jeff Horn!Comment
