Maybe it's time bob arum take a step back slowly without stumbling, since he is an old fart, and realise that fury isn't a draw in the USA. Even AJ at his worst, in defeat, drew more than fury. That says a lot.

They haven't released numbers for any Wilder fight outside of the Stiverne fight and the Fury fight. The only thing we know is he couldn't sell out an arena in his home state on several occasions and some of his fights at Barclay's have had the upper section closed off. Neither guy is a huge box office draw without elite competition, but still good enough to draw better than almost every other headliner in America not named Canelo or Pacquiao.

Old data must be put into context clearly. That's my primary point.

Fury is a mischief maker, he is constantly taking the pish out of the boxing authorities, other boxers and journalists. He is having the time of his life and getting paid to mess around.
He will push it as far as he possibly can.

Those are not good numbers, not going to sugarcoat it. But it shows that boxing fans want proper match ups. This is the reason why Fury adopt that Mexican theme/day, but they didn’t fall for it.

He would have to fight the bigger names to generate what ESPN/Arum have put into him, they can’t continue to lose money on him.

Good for Fury! A little less than $300 short of $1M at the gate for an unknown (now known), but the amount of tickets sold is horrible for that arena which seats 20k.

I said it's a good thing for Fury because the average "fan" (casual) will only see that $1M on the headlines and more than likely disregard how many seats were left empty. On top of that, the fight played out better than expected and has been pushed like crazy by ESPN before and after.

I try to remind people that the whole idea of staging boxing on these platforms is to bring in casual fans and we all know most of them either could care less about the details or they have no clue how the sport works. Cool.

Also....Wallin may have bought himself a rematch and Fury's got another big payday in his back pocket if they decide to run it back. People can say what they want about Bob, but these "no win" situations for him always end up flourishing into bigger and better things.
