VAR in boxing? I'm not so sure the sport needs it. And last weekend in Las Vegas was an example of the risks involved in using instant replays. Tyson Fury was caught by a punch which opened up two horrific cuts around his right eye in his thrilling clash with Otto Wallin.

Is the Boxing World that ****** that even if Fury lost due to the cut, that it would stop the Wilder rematch happening? Like why?

I could understand if he got beaten up, maybe, but if he was clear as day the better fighter and loses to a cut, then I think the Boxing world is just ****** to deny future opportunities.

The young generation of casual boxing fans believe a record without a 0 makes a fighter really special. When the record is no more perfect, the magic is gone, and there might be less PPV. It is all about hype, not skills or a deep understanding of the sport.

When Joshua draws 80-90.000 to a stadium, how many of those guys knows boxing compared to a crowd of 200 who sees 10 amateur matches followed by one professional match on the evening in the local gym? I am sure a lot of those casuals turned their back on Joshua once the 0 was gone, and if he looses again they will think he's done and look for their next superstar idol with a perfect record.

I think some managers are highly aware of this, and it is therefore especially important to keep the 0 of both Wilder and Fury until they meet again for their rematch. VAR could make the sport less corrupt, and thus cost the A-side a lot of money.

There may be more problems using VAR in boxing than in sports like rugby, tennis, etc, but the problems are not insurmountable.

Here's my idea on how it should be handled:

Make sure that whoever has the final call on issues like the cause of a cut has access to instant VAR. Inform the ref and both corners of the decision reached at the earliest possible opportunity.

If the injury is so bad that the ref or a ringside doctor stops the fight before the cause can be definitely ascertained from VAR footage, wait until the footage has been studied before doing anything else.

You are clearly assuming that Wallin and his corner weren't informed about the commission's ruling and didn't know they would win if the fight was stopped.

And you are clearly wrong about that.

If Wallin's corner didn't know they could win by forcing a stoppage, then why were they telling him repeatedly to target Fury's cut, and why did Wallin himself deliberately try to make the cut worse by raking it with his glove?

Fackin fish faced kunt, why not have VAR?? it WOULD clearly show the punch caused the cut, it was only weekes who saw it any different oh and of course the ***** crowd. Warren tryin to put spin on nothing, it was a punch and the diddycoy ran his luck again, brave to carry on but should have been awarded to Wallin as a stoppage end of. Every fighter will now aim for that weak spot and even just a glancing shot will open it up.
He ain’t fighting wilder next, this is warrens next excuse, he’s still just doin the prep work before the bombshell.

This exercise in ******ity makes absolutely no sense. Warren is using some sort of Chewbacca defense, or maybe he's running his mouth just to stay in the public's eye. Just look at his premises and the conclusion he makes:

1. Ref made the call about the cut.
2. Instant replay (VAR) showed that the ref was wrong and the comision corrected his call.
Conclusion: Therefore, VAR should not be allowed in boxing.

Can anybody see any sense in his idiocy?
