Why do the same posters who say Canelo is not a champ at 168

There are pro GGG revisionists that will claim he was the king of the division during that time despite his lesser title when in reality he was largely irrelevant both in the eyes of the public and in terms of accomplishments as he was in bum feasting phase in his career. Much of the little buzz he received during that time was sparring against a then teenage Canelo.

Yes but we aren’t looking at Super champion defences only. We are looking at legitimate title defences, which include the time he was the sole WBA champion (not regular). If you want to remove those, then remove the vast majority of the WBA’s championship history.

From this count, Golovkin has 14 legitimate title defences, 15 including the Canelo draw

Yes, he won a world title by beating Fielding. Maybe some don't count it because Fielding was so god awful lousy but still he was a WBA regular champion so beating him made Canelo the WBA regular champion. The WBA super champion is Callum Smith who had KOed Fielding in two round before Fielding fought Canelo.

Dudes who say that are hypocrites. You can have it one way or the other, but if you got any integrity you gotta apply the same rule to both guys. I could go on about how GGG was screwed over when Sturm got bumped up to 'Super' under an impromptu rules change back in 2010, but the fact remains he only made 15 defences when he was either the sole WBA champion or the WBA super champion.

Tank too FWIW... kid was/is probably the best at 130 for my money, but the fact remains he didn't have any right to the WBA 'super' under their own rules since at the time he fought for it there was already an incumbent super Champ in Machado - although once again it's not clear whether Machado himself was entitled to it since it's not clear that it can actually be won in the ring - ummm.... sounds like I'm waffling huh? The WBAs rules are, unfortunately, absolutely as ****** as they sound.

That's exactly the same reasoning and count as I use. 15 total since a draw is counted as a defense of the title (hence 'you need to beat the champ').

That's not how things were at all, GGG hating Canelo FANBOY! You are the ***ing Canelo revisionist rewriting history. GGG was highly respected and wasn't feasting on bums. Geale, Monroe,Wade, Murray, Macklin, Jacobs and Lemieux were all top 10 world rated contenders at the time he knocked them out. they only became instant bums to GGG haters like you after he knocked them out or beat them. This is according to Ring magazine owned by Canelo's promoter Oscar. As recently as 2018 Ring magazine had GGG the number 1 pound for pound boxer in the world while Canelo was not on the top 10 list yet you try to say Canelo was better known and more respected than GGG back then. You like to quote Sanchez when it suits you pro Canelo anti GGG agenda. Sanchez said a few days ago that he trained both GGG and Kovalev at his gym at the same time for 18 months. He said GGG was better than Kovalev in every way and beat him up in sparring. He said GGG was a better boxer, a harder puncher, faster, better reactions and had a better jab than Kovalev. He said Canelo will KO Kovalev with body punches about round 9. When GGG fought Canelo the first time he was a 4 to 1 favorite to win. That was the high opinion of him at that time. Yet you say the only good publicity he had was from sparring teenage Canelo. GTFOH

I wasn't even talking about GGG's overall weak resume (he was 33 before he faced his first reigning champ). I'm talking about the window when he was the regular champ under the WBA which had 3 champs in the division at the time. It's laughable to suggest anyone considered him to be the man in the division then (or even a full champ). He was seen as a promising fighter by some because of his amateur experience but largely an afterthought with little buzz as he was feasting on bums on the sidelines.

Put this in the who gives a sh☆☆ who gives a f☆☆☆ category.

Canelo beat some scrub at 168 for a fake title and that's a fact.
I don't know nor care who GGG beat or how many title defenses he made either, fake or real.

Canelo probably shouldn't even have a 160 lb titles right now either but we all know he's the golden child of boxing and sh☆☆ just seems to fall in his favor no matter what people actually see with their own eyes.
