Originally posted by Robi13 View PostWell the judges, who are professionals, disagree with you and so do many others. 8-4 either way is a bad score. Last time I checked the criteria to scoring bouts is...
1. Clean punching (power versus quantity).
2. Effective aggressiveness.
3. Ring generalship.
4. Defense.
I don’t see stamina in there or jabs... ggg had the work rate but was it effective???
I think canelos won both fights
And I mentioned jabs/stamina/workrate because those factors enabled him to land on Canelo, and land a lot of scoring shots on Canelo...in truth he landed many more shots on Canelo in each fight than Canelo landed on him.
Of course fights are judged round by round, and there were some rounds where GGG outlanded Canelo by a few punches, but Canelo probably imo landed the best shot/shots of the round...this maybe negated GGG's number superiority in those rounds, and imo made those tight rounds.
But generally GGG was outlanding Canelo round in and round out, and often time GGG was actually landing the best shot or shots of those rounds, which would, I think we should all agree, make those quite clear rounds for GGG.
It is honestly hard to believe that after getting outlanded 10-1-1 (1 tie) in fight 1, rd by rd, that some can really say that fight was very close...and even fight 2 was 8-3-1 for GGG in rd by rd stats...I don't always cite compubox as I sometimes disagree with their numbers, but I generally was seeing the same things in those fights.
That GGG was just outlanding Nelo almost every round, and Canelo had very few, if any, clear rounds in either fight, where he landed quite a few more shots than GGG and also landed the better shots of the round...just never really happened from what I saw.
I know you are a big Canelo fan and that's cool...I guess as fans sometimes we can see what we want to see...but I just scratch my head a bit sometimes when fans try to rationalize bad cards/decisions...as I said, no shame in Canelo coming out 2nd best to GGG, GGG is a great great fighter...and Canelo fought well in both fights, his first at 160...he should be proud..but yeah I don't think he really came close to winning either one.

In any event, when you get outlanded 10-1-1 in a fight...you should feel very fortunate really to get 4 rounds...and when you get outlanded 8-3-1, 4 rounds is probably about what you deserve there as well.
As those numbers suggest...I had 5 clear rounds for GGG in each fight...and 7 close rounds, 4 of which I swung to Nelo in each fight.
No shame imo for Nelo to lose to GGG...they were his first fights at 160 and he fought well and gave GGG, an ATG at MW, his best fights ever...he should be commended for that imo...but no he didn't win and was not really close imo.

Canelo outboxed and bested GGG in the second fight. Golovkin was so humiliated he ran to the locker room crying before even giving an interview.

He fought a great fight... Canelo fought a great fight, man. You can’t take that away from Canelo. "
Golovkin already had his do-over
he already had his second-chance to fight Canelo like a Mexican
My man it wasn’t a convincing win. That’s all I’m saying.

Mr " anyone from 154-168 ", insisting that 153lb Cotto had to fight him at 160... was precious
the g-strings, wholeheartedly supporting that demand... was priceless
