Comments Thread For: Sulaiman Needs To Check His Facts in Latest Attack on AIBA

Mauricio Sulaiman has continued his ongoing attacks on AIBA the governing body for what is still generally called the amateur code - calling their rules "brutal and criminal" on Twitter after Richard Torrez Jr, the super-heavyweight from the United States, was knocked out by Bakhodir Jalolov, a boxer who has had six bouts as a professional.

I respectfully disagree with the article and agree with Mr Sulaiman. Putting an amateur in the ring with a professional is unethical

While I don't agree with the way Sulaiman is sensationalizing this issue, I also can't agree with pro boxers being allowed to compete in the amateur code. The 2 codes are almost 2 different sports; amateurs has historically been mainly about point scoring while the pro's has always been the hurt business. Mixing the 2 is never going to work; best case scenario is a pro getting embarrassed by a top amateur (can't recall the name but it happened in the Rio Olympics), worst case is a 10 fight amateur kid getting obliterated and put into intensive care by a 30 year old battle-hardened pro.

Great article! Suleiman needs to check himself, he doesn't know jack sh#t about the Amateurs...

Torrez just won a Bronze medal at Super Heavyweight at the Pan American Games like 1-2 months ago, he knocked out the #4 ranked Super Heavyweight in the world (Marko Milun) in the tournament just before fighting Jalolov, in fact Torrez was ranked ahead of Jalolov before the tournament started.

I have the feeling Suleiman wouldn't be outraged if Torrez name would be Jalolov instead if you understand what I'm saying. Disgraceful from that WBC bum. Jalolov fights the best who are put in front of him, Torrez was a top 10 Super Heavyweight ranked above him and was coming off a spectacular win. That's why he faced Jalolov in the Quarter finals. And besides that, Jalolov can't even control who he fights. It's a frkn tournament. Now cease, Suleiman.

In amateurs - at least - You're not going to be allowed to take much punishment, due to much different use of standing 8 count (Which You'll see after couple clean shots fighter receives, hurtful or not) - and fights being waved off quicker.
Knock-outs like this one are rare. I only saw 1 other one in entire tournament and I saw pretty much all the fights... The other guy who scored a hard knock-out never fought pro, so it's just better opportunity now for Suleiman to bash AIBA, because it's a competition to him, even if not a big one.

I wouldn't overreact then, there's is an issue of potentially very experienced and powerful professional fighting very raw novice, but that fight wasn't an example of that. Knock-outs happen, the American fighter hurt his opponent in prior round too and got a stoppage in first round.

Same thing happend in Charlo vs Centeno fight that Sulaiman didn't have problems sanctioning for WBC interim and that's just one example of many.
I think Mauricio should clean up his own side before He criticises othters.

Neither of these responses addresses the crux of my argument, which is that a professional should not be competing against an amateur in an amateur tournament. KOs aside, and Sulaiman hypocrisy aside, I do not feel a professional should be in the ring with an amateur

The guy literally just left the amateurs and has had 6 pro fights against nobodies, why are we acting like a 20 year old is a kid, and not a man?

Fuccing soft puccies, the lot of ya. Sulaiman or however you spell his name is a crybaby little girl, go be corrupt elsewhere ya smelly phag. I'm gonna get a poster on the wall of him knocking out that 'little boy' now. I wish I could rob a bank and say 'I identify as a boy' lol to get off scott-free.

So many pansies in boxing now I swear. 14 year old boys were on fuccing battlefields not a century ago and in some countries there are 12 year olds on the front lines of civil wars. The west breeds a bunch of phaggot sooks

Im not disagreeing with your opinion, im simply point out that Sulaiman is being a hypocrite, something you have also acknowledged.

Did I get this piece of **** correctly? They're saying it's okay to have a pro fight an am because the Am had lots of amatuer experience and the pro hardly started being pro? Or is because other bodies do it too?

The **** is wrong with y'all *******s. Ams should not fight pros, that's a ****in' duh. Why the **** do we even have different levels if you can float between them? I don't give a **** if Ruslan got to do it, he shouldn't have. Once you go pro there should be no going back, grow the **** up.
