Mixing the 2 is never going to work; best case scenario is a pro getting embarrassed by a top amateur (can't recall the name but it happened in the Rio Olympics), worst case is a 10 fight amateur kid getting obliterated and put into intensive care by a 30 year old battle-hardened pro.

This case seems like the wrong one to scrutinize, Torres is very experienced, it looked like he made a big mistake (he seemed to never have seen a 6'7" before) the man threw 1twos the whole time and he just kept getting tagged, with that said, the permitting of pro fighter just seems wrong from the standpoint of: young amateurs are being used to practice with the convenience of it( the outcome) not going on your professional record.
Suleiman, who is obviously interested in Mexican and Mexican American success in the professional game might have had his eye on Torrez as a future tittle holder, he is somewhat famous in our area in California and for the most part has been dominating the amateur heavyweight scene in the USA

I dont trust WBC Guy's intentions with most anything even when he has a good idea often, but hes got a solid point this time. A guy with 6 pro fights shouldnt be fighting a amateur in what used to be deemed an amateur tournament.

I am actually fine with pros being in the Olympics. I think the Olympics is supposed to represent the best not the best amateurs. This whole amateur & pro thing is on shaky ground anyway for anyone who knows how amateurs often receive money from sponsors & stipends. The reality is unless you are a child there isnt much amateur about how amateur sports work at the highest level.

That said there should be purely amateur tournaments & having 1 pro fight should excluds one from participating in them.

Cherry on the top of Mauricio competency - "Jalolov from Russia" is an Uzbek from USA.

I would be more concerned about thousands of KOs of construction workers and cab drivers that are used to build up records of other really PROfessional fighters (pronounced loud with "wins coming by way of knockout").

So itīs ok for a 15 year-old Canelo to fight older professionals but itīs not ok for a 20-year Torrez with great international experience to fight another good boxer in a 3 round fight?

Jalolov hardly got past the Kazakh Kunkabayev at the Asian Championships some months ago (4-1 decision). nobody complained then…

Another yong american, Keyshawn Davis, beat another uzbek pro in Elnur Abduraimov earlier this week. Sanjar Tursunov lost to Indian Sanjeet and other pros have lost at these World Championships as well.

If youīre entering a World Championships you know you can face a 300+ bouts Cuban or a 5 pro bouts Uzbek or whatever. If you īre not ready then donīt take part.

              Exactly.

Nobody had problems when pros entered the Olympics like Hassan N'Dam. Not only did the pros lose, some of them were knocked out by amateurs. Now if the pros had won medals everyone would have been up in arms, but they never even got there.

Pretty much this, the guy is a moron. Didn't he put a "Belt" on the line for that occasion too? Obviously the AIBA is an easy target for him.

I would have applaud him if his stance was the same for the Money/Mac fight.

Jalolov has been a pro for a year, and has fought opponents who are 31-11-6 in those 6 pro fights. Sulaiman's wasn't that vocal when a 49-0 (20 years) career Mayweather was scheduled to fight Mac.

Once one leaves the amateur code & turns pro then that should mean that! In general the Olympics have become a complete farce. The last I heard was that Squash had been dropped in favour of break dancing. "What the bloody hell gives here"!!..
