The cuts are nasty and deep will take long time to heal, there could have bad scar tissue when it does heal which means they could reopen and the location is a bad spot where you will be high risk of getting hit again. No shot he is fighting in Feb
Yeah, I was a fighter. Boxed amateur fights against guys who repped England as a teen and won more than I lost against them. Cut eyes heal better than you imagine. Hughie Fury got a horrific eye cut vs Pulev in R2, fought on for 12 rounds in that fight then took Povetkin the distance taking many whacks near the eye to no effect. It's not as bad as it looks. Very hard to fight through on the day, but they recover. Unless it's on the orbital bone.

I never turned pro as I know how good these champions and top contenders are, and unless you're up there with them, there is no money at all to be made from boxing. Even Andy Ruiz nearly retired with next to nothing to his name a year ago and he is world class. Boxing is a tough sport and full respect to Fury for winning at least 9 rounds tonight with that eye.

then when they showed the replay, and not only was it a punch but such a short punch I was blown away. Like maybe Fury had been cut in sparring and it hadn't healed properly (Thats what happened in the first ODLH/Chavez fight)
Fury was cut in sparring in the same place 2/3 weeks ago from a head clash. I have a friend in camp Fury. The cut from camp was minor in comparison, but it's always dangerous to fight with a problem like that. Still, job done and he showed great heart. I t was a bit like a young Tyson Fury fight when he just used to dig out wins.

          Maybe I’m wrong
But either he has no killer instinct or maybe the jitters on the big stage
Don’t get me wrong , he clearly stunned him in the fourth I think and definitely in twelve

The area being recently compromised would explain a lot, as like others have said I was left thinking "wow, really" based on the offending punch in the replay.

Fighting with head gear to help protect eyes in not the same. lol A pro fighter with deep bad cuts in a horrible location where blood flows dirt into the eye ball. He won't be ready by Feb likely won't even be able to spar by feb. No clue how bad the scar tissue will be and if the eye will hold up to being punched on the scars without reopening. It's a combination of all the worst things in a cut, the type of cuts very deep, location directly above the eye and inside the eye lid, his profession is people hit him in his face and eyes constantly.

A normal person or semi boxer with head gear could just let it heal and doesn't have much risk of it reopening or if the location was the side of the eye brow so if it does open it just bleeds down your cheek and not directly into the eye ball blinding you. Those cuts he got are as bad as you can get in boxing no shot he is fighting in feb

Same thing I thought when I saw it live headbutt or he reopened an existing cut lol

                • Just another example disproving the whole, 'you can judge who won by looking at their face after the fight' nonsensical argument.

because joe Joyce even though I do not rate him highly ......is a non stop walk forward fighter with endless stamina who punches harder than Wallin and will just keep on him.
He has size and stamina to beat fury.
We’re talking about Wallin here who is not even in the top 30 and took fury to the wire here.
Why is fury picking these fights you need to ask yourself

                    • For those not understanding why a cut like this should be given time to heal, Arturo Gatti is a great example. Look how Gatti's face change later in his career. Gatti would get cut constantly, he wouldn't allow his cuts to heal so he ended up with bad scar tissue. Gatti had multiple surgeries to correct the damage around his eyes, but his eyes ended up looking like an exaggerated drag queen. A lot of boxers have ended up with bad scar tissue due to neglecting cuts along to he brows.
