    david tua's career

david tua wasnt great its as easy as that.

he had a good left hook but thats all he threw and when you know a guy is coming after you with ONE punch, litereally ONE punch, its not hard to defend against (hold your right to your chin like its stuck there with glue and jab jab jab). combine that with the fact that tua was a progressively slow starter, ran out of ideas once his left hook failed to find its mark, was only five foot nine, and had a bad habit of gaining EIGHTY pounds between fights and you have a mediocre fighter who is listed along with other also-rans of promise who never panned out.

He just looks for that opening to land that hook. Even though he isn't great he still has the kind of power in which people say "I want to see that again."

he looked better in this fight than he did 9 months ago

besides he could've taken that guy out in the first round if he wanted to

look at the other things he was doing well

he was defending better, placement of his gloves

and he moved his head consistently

He lost his pot belly. Came into the fight at 245 and allowed the fight to continue so he could "practice" on a semi-moving target. He got a little hungry and took the guy out with a shot to the liver.

Poor guy. He looked really hurt. I think he preferred a head shot over the body shot.

this guy was tailor made for tua.

no movement. as short as tua. good chin, knew hed take some shots before he went out. doesent throw anything back, needs to fight on the inside. i could go on....

did you hear gutierrez in the corner after the fight when he was on his stool. he was wincing in pain and just looked up and all he says is "wow" then goes back to dying a thousand deaths.

That bodyshot Tua hit him with was a beauty, and the left hook he floored him with early wasn't so bad either. I know the opponent was mediocre (and that's putting it kindly) but Tua is at least trying to piece his career back together and deserves some respect for trying to get some work in tonight rather than look impressive with a first round knockout.

He still has a long way to go, but the title is more available to him now than it was years ago when Lewis was holding it.
