With 3 round/15min fights there is more variance. I think thats one of the reasons MMA losses arent as damaging. If you fight 10-12rds/30-36mins & lose it says more about your limitations.
Obviously the level of the person you lose to is in play to some degree still, but that largely seems ignored cuz plenty of guys have turned pro fighting a half dozen high level undefeated amateur stars & those L's rarely if ever get excused you are just deemed a loser no matter if 4 of your 6 L opponents end up fighting for or winning a belt one day or w/e.
