    Johnathon Banks is the man!!!!

what heart! i dont know what else to say, he showed maturity beyond his years making it out of that first round.

say what you want about him getting KD'ed but that was a huge combo that he got hit with solely by being ****y. i really dont think too many guys can get up and continue after that, he had the freakin spit knocked out of him.

So proud of this guy, ive been following him and been hoping hed get this kind of chance, i dont think anyone at cruiser can take his best shot. castillo was dead for all practical purposes.

NABO title after his 12th fight, should be right in line for a major title shot within the year. maybe he can fight cunningham???

Just finished watching the fight too. I think Castillo got winded after his early barrage because the 1st knockout occurred in the 1st minute of round 1. I think a rematch would be good, but probably WONT happen.

Manny Steward showed a lot of confidence in Banks and it paid off. Ever think this guy could get an HBO fight? I'd like to see him on there based on his performance tonite.

banks throws that sorta lunging straight left and right hand shot that knifes in between his opponents guard. that is something that lewis and klitschko both do (did) a lot, it was a punch that banks really caught castillo off guard with and led to him landing the big right hand that finished him.

do you think this shows a bad chin on banks?? i really dont, i think that castillo has very good power at cruiserwieght he has 20 wins and 15 kos including fights at heavy. that left right he landed is his bread and butter and he landed both shots square. banks had spit dripping out of his mouth as he got up and i believe if anything it showed his chin is solid.

          opinions?????????

Banks is just 12-0, no need to rush him. This was a great comeback performance. Comeback fight of the year so far, I think. I was more impressed with his ability to survive personally, especially since he was just 11-0 as a pro. Then turning it around was the icing on the cake, to throw another cliche. He learned a lot more in that 1 fight than many guys learn in their first 20 or so fights.

Banks' power is probably good but I didn't feel Castillo had a great chin anyhow. Still, Banks had to get to that chin in order to check it and make it bounce.

banks power is in his precision, he put that last right hand right on the point of castillos chin, he is a very accurate puncher and i think has many similarities in his style to wlad and lennox.

i was surprised actually that castillo looked like the bigger man in the ring, i dont think many guys besides him will hold that advantage over banks.

theres no need to rush him true, but there is no need to wait either. i believe the IBF is vacant? ****** hill is one champ? and johnny nelson i think? i dont even know for sure, but the point being its wide open and all those guys are beatable for banks..

oneill bell would beat him, but hes not interested anyways at this point.

banks has said before that his goal is to fight for the cruiserweight title within the year and that he will eventually move to heavyweight when he and steward decide it is time.

He should stay at cruiserweight. The guy has heart coming out of his ass but his chin is a big question mark for me after tonight. Seeing him get put on ***** street by Castillo, not a big puncher even by cruiser standards, should put any notion of him venturing up to HW to rest. He should stay at cruiserweight and take on the best. That is, after he gets a little more seasoned.

With that being said, I was very, very impressed by Banks.

i'd pick braithewaite, bell, mormeck, cunningham, and Haye against him right now. Not very impressed with Guillermo Jones. He should maybe fight him or Johnny Nelson. Maybe Kelvin Davis. Actually he should probably fight all of them and maybe Jirov if he's still around. That'd get him some good quality wins to get him fully prepared for that top level. And actually he could probably give Haye a great run.

Definitely someone to watch out for at Cruiserweight now. He might even want to rematch Castillo at some point just to prove it wasn't a fluke, which it wasn't.
