So next time, let's stop a fight when a fighter gets wobbled too. Has boxing become so soft? There are many instances where fighters fight while being concussed to finish a match. As long as they can tough it out and try to win, then I feel that they should be given a chance. A fight should only be stopped when they are clearly not able to even walk right when the referee assess them and give them small instructions to see if they are coherent. AJ, to me looks coherent enough to continue till he gets stopped in the 7 round.

"concussed" lol
you're not a f3cking cat scan yuo clown! joshua weathered a storm that greater boxers have weathered and come out on top. he weathered it but he didn't ge tback on his jab or tying ruiz up to tax him physically.
the key to beating ruiz is to make him tired. joshua may not have the skills / nuances as a professional to do that.Comment

I don't buy this. The rules of boxing have been changed NUMEROUS times in attempts to make it safer often times. The sport didnt die when we put "b^tch mittens" on although Im sure many predicted it. The sport didnt die when they quit allowing fighters to be hit as they were getting up from a KD. The sport didnt die when we went to 12 rounds. The sport ISN'T dying or going to die. People love fighting too much.
I think the rules of boxing could be changed various ways to diminish the likelihood of immediate or long term damage to boxers. One example could be a shorter count when you are dropped or take a knee. Giving people recovery time often over the amount most feel they should get based upon the current rules just puts boxers at greater risk.
I still feel though that removing violence from boxing while a good moral thing to do would only enhance the popularity of MMA at boxing's expense.Comment

Not really... or that is there's a fine line. Once you've been concussed to that degree, you're never making a comeback so its all down hill from there. The point of boxing isn't to lose a fight only to get CTE. How many punch drunk fighters do we want getting parkinsons or dying? I tend to thhink the ref should have called the ring doctor in... AJ could have been given 20 minutes to recover and yet it would have done nothing for his brain in that state.Comment

Many boxers have suffered far greater shots to win in far less important fights ,if what you said was the case 50% of wars would be stopped in the ring and the sport ,more the fans get cheated.
The Joshua fight was more due to breathing heavy anyway more then the punches landed ,he lost on lack of wind after a few body shots in the 6th and it set up a 7th round finish when Ruiz pushed the pace again. you can see him breathing heavy after round 2 before you post anything ****** back,
Did I mention your post was ****** ? you're talking about stopping fights but forget Wilder was on his stool with actual doctors checking his head and eyes ?Last edited by juggernaut666; 09-13-2019, 12:00 PM.Comment

What are you proposing here? That AJ should retire so as not to take any more blows? But fighting on as he's doing, you're going to demonise people and claim they're endangering his life because they're soulless or something?
You people will go to any extreme to smear won't you. You just have to see every situation in a negative light when it comes to Brits. Evil has a name and it's the USA. You people are so damaged, you're never coming back.Comment

I see your point especially with the shorter counts (maybe six instead of ten) for a KO. This only works though if they do away with any type of standing count. Standing eight counts for example provide the potential for fighters to take more damage. If the situation is one where a standing count would as of now be given then the fight should be stopped at that point.
I still feel though that removing violence from boxing while a good moral thing to do would only enhance the popularity of MMA at boxing's expense.
And idk that we should care about whats the most popular combat sport. Lets be honest BOXING has shot itself in the foot in worse ways & continues to do so daily more than this would do. Boxing doesn't make any f#cking TODAY with all these divisions, all these sanctioning bodies, all these different commissions with different rules & all these belts so that no one knows what fights mean something & what fights don't half the time. Sometimes a Canelo fight means something & sometimes he fights Amir Khan. Boxing has bigger issues with being the #1 combat sport internally with all that bs that dries people away who have no idea what they are watching.Comment
