Comments Thread For: Joshua's Trainer Knew His Fighter Was Concussed During Loss

Anthony Joshua's trainer, Rob McCracken, admits that he realized his boxer was concussed after getting dropped twice in the third round of his TKO defeat to Andy Ruiz back on June 1. Ruiz was dropped during the third round, but Joshua got to anxious as he ran in to finish him off - leading to Ruiz catching him with a big counter. Joshua was then dropped twice in the round.

Everybody knew he was concussed. We could see it. Still tried to win the fight.

If I were him I would've stopped the fight after the 3rd knockdown since he was clearly concussed, no need to keep him in there if he's already behind by like 8 points in the 7th round. It made him look like a quitter when he couldn't continue where in fact he didn't know where he was and was fighting on instinct since the 3rd.

We won't know if Joshua ever recovered from that fight. normally beatings and stoppage losses decrease your ability to take a punch and it messes you up later in life. Better stop the fight too early than too late.

Yeah AJ wasn't there. I'm glad he didn't get injured. That could have ended bad.

His corner should definitely have pulled him out if the ref didn't stop it

Concussed. His team are ****s for not pulling him out, the refs a **** for allowing it to continue for another 4 rounds but at the same time AJ is a quitter. LOL i wish the haters would pick a narrative and stick to a narrative.

... McCracken only trained Carl Froch... and maybe he thought AJ was the same stuff...

He had 3 rounds to clear his head, but unfortunately for him ruiz was still catching him in those rounds which wasnt helping with recovery... ideally had not the ref stopped it in round 7... rob should have done so at the end of that round as he was clearly hurt and not able to gather his senses again to go back to boxing the way he should have.

Once your brain has been rattled like that it is more susceptible to having it happen again.

Andy just has to land flush once or twice and AJ will be having flashbacks of being on queer street.

Difficult to judge him in a way, should he had stop the fight? Maybe, but he probably wanted to give his fighter a fighting chance, especially since he was the first one to score a KD. Knowing how dangerous Ruiz is if they had not underestimated him then he would have stopped the fight.

Joshua probably doesn’t remember anything from the fight unless he watches those videos back.

Concussed? SMH. I just want to know where are the reports that he went to the hospital after the fight? What medical team examined him?

He probably was concussed...And if he was concussed in the 3rd round, AJ may in fact be permanently damaged. After a concussion, any subsequent blow can create lasting and permanent damage. I would not be shocked if we start getting reports of AJ being knocked out clean in sparring, in preparation for the Ruiz rematch.

All of that aside, Joshua's poor defense led to his demise. His inability to have a peakaboo defense, at a minimum, attributed heavily to Ruiz's success.
