I respect your argument, but I also think that a lot of people, especially purists, can tend to over-analyze the action a bit. They fall in love with some aspect of what one guy is doing (in this case GGG's jab) and completely miss the bigger picture of what is happening in the fight (and what the other guy is doing). I am a big GGG fan. I thought he won the first fight and fought his ass off in the rematch, but I did not think he did more to win that rematch than Canelo. Canelo was quicker, landed sharper, backed GGG up and outfought him in more rounds. Close, competitive fight, but Canelo won that ****.
But most people do agree with you it was a close competitive fight.
My bottom line doe is I got these mfers 13-11 GGG in 24 rounds of fighting (6-6 & 7-5 GGG). Seems like most others got them close to. There isnt much between these two so I could watch that level of closeness 2 more times let alone 1 more time & kinda feeling we'll be getting robbed on a good high level fight if we never see a 3rd fight. Thus I just dont get these mfers acting like GGG isnt in play as an opponent anymore.Comment

Why do you keep repeating this, it's obvious misinformation. He did not drain Jacobs, he ignored the rehydration limit and paid the fine, like everyone expected him too. It was an obvious ploy to extract some money from him because Golden Boy had leverage. He had to abide by the same rules to win the IBF title vs Derevianchenko.
You do know that it's the IBF that requires a second day weigh in? The following is from the IBF website itself.Comment

Saying he will fight anyone from 154-168 and only fighting at 160 is the opposite dummy! And also, you keep believing he “tried” to fight all these fighters he didn’t lolComment

Straight from Jacob's mouth
"This is not something that I'm not familiar with. We did it in my last fight and I physically felt great. We followed the 10-pound rules and we still came into the fight the weight that we wanted to come in."Comment

Yeah he waited and Canelo who was the Challenger made him wait as long as he could to age him. It's pretty obvious that was the strategy from the Canelo camp reviewing Canelo's habit of taking on known fighters that were past prime. Canelo wanted to fight him at a catchweight but since Golovkin didn't cave he took the I'm not ready for 160 route. As far as when the fight happened that's up to the two fighters. I'm not upset about when it happened but if you are saying Golovkin ducked Canelo at a catchweight it simply not true. Golovkin made it plain that any fight with Canelo would be with him coming in at 160. Canelo can come in lighter if he wants. Duran fought Hagler when he weighed in a few pounds lighter than 160. He did very well considering his age and wear and tear. Canelo the younger faster defensive wizard superstar could have done the same against the slow plodding low ring IQ Golovkin but declined. According to your logic cutting a few pounds is not a big deal if it's Golovkin. However requiring Canelo to put on a few or none is an affront to boxing. LOL..Comment

The reality is most people who watched the fight seem to disagree with you about who won.

As for me, I'm not buying any of that. Canelo and his team imposed the second weigh in restrictions on Jacobs for a reason. The Jacobs that Canelo faced was less than the Jacobs that Golovkin faced because of the weight restriction imposed. That's the truth I believe.Comment

All I needed to see was "sissy-g" and knew to just disregard the rest. If he is a sissy whats that make Canelo who lost to him in 1st fight and deserved a draw in 2nd. You guys will never get it, if GGG is soooooooooo bad then why did Canelo have so much problems????? Why did he just KO him in the 1st few rds????? By putting down GGG your sh itting on your hero(who is also very good)Last edited by john l; 09-12-2019, 04:11 PM.Comment
