He was scared. He felt the power. The only reason he’s fighting him is because Arum and espn is making him. His numbers are horrible he barely sold 5k tickets to his last fight they have to recoup some of that money they are losing on a boring fighter. He knew he was lucky to make it to the bell. He’s only fought one contender in his last 5 fights.

ESPN promised him a ton of money and the plan was to make Fury more popular in the US leading to a bigger $$ rematch.... however they have stuck him on ESPN+ twice against two awful opponents. I dont see how this deal has helped in any way to raise Fury's profile in the US. His fight this weekend against an unknown random guy will be watched by absolutely no one going up against college football. If ESPN was smart, this would be on main ESPN following a football lead in.

Wilder rematch is a huge risk. Even if he thoroughly outboxes Wilder again, he could still get knocked cold at any point in that fight.

Instead he's making big money to fight prospects ranked in the 50s and 60s.

He signed with Arum for financial reasons and also because with the political backing of an American promoter he’s least likely to get robbed again. As far as the financial he was supposed to get a 50/50 split but I believe they gave Wilder more somehow. Now with Arum he can get at least a 50 or 55 percent split given the circumstances if they don’t want the fight they won’t get it. Fury might just keep fighting Bums till Al Haymon plays ball.

As a fan, I’d much rather have seen him fight Wilder, but if he lost the rematch would there still be a 100m 5 fight offer on the table?

Nah it was for the money. Just like wilder told Al pay me what DAZN offered me or I am gone.

It’s all business. Wilder took a big chunk of the showtime budget when he got the bag.

That’s why when showtime had previously announced monthly pbc shows they couldn’t fulfill it. That’s why there are no showtime shows in August September and November. Just a cheap October show and a December show.
