Showtime will lead the efforts, but don't act as if FOX/FS1 won't be pushing the fight too; not as hard as they'll likely be pushing their own PPV, but it won't be as if they'll ignore the event.Comment

Where did Espinoza say that this year's boxing budget was $30m, because basically everyone here is working on the knowledge that the Showtime deal matched basically the FOX/FS1 deal and that package was said to approach $60m per year for 4 years. LolYes, Showtime's budget for boxing in 2019 is $30million, according to Espinoza. And that's a lot of money if you consider the fact that, at the peak of HBO, when they used to have those weekly fights - they had the same budget. That's why I'm shocked people actually believe Wilder made $20million vs Breazeale in a non-PPV fight. It's just simple math.
I think Wilder vs Ortiz 2 is going to be on PPV. There's no way they'll put that fight on regular Fox unless Wilder is willing to go back to making $2-3million and Ortiz doesn't mind his normal $500,000. That will probably be their base earnings and PPV buys would boost it up. So even if they do about 50k PPV buys - that'd be extra $1m for Wilder and about $500k for Ortiz. None of these networks are giving out big money to boxers like that. And even when Canelo fought GGG - the official purse was $5m and $4m respectively. Everything else they made came at the backend from PPV. Only DAZN throws big cheques around.Comment

Yet Fury ducked the rematch to now get ready to fight his second soft touch that folks will, again, not pay any attention to (and this second fight may not even be on ESPN+ to try and sell that service).
For a guy who you think carried the PPV, he sure has fallen off the face of the planet, lolComment

Whats that got to do with Wilder being a PPV flop? Joshua on PPV, Fury on PPV, Wilder only on PPV when its against somebody who is PPV, if not then Wilder is not PPV. Not everybody can be a star in the sport no matter how much you wish they were.Yet Fury ducked the rematch to now get ready to fight his second soft touch that folks will, again, not pay any attention to (and this second fight may not even be on ESPN+ to try and sell that service).

That’s the amazing thing about not paying. You can either find a stream or watch it the next day. If it’s on ITV then more power to the PBC, because I don’t have to pay for it, and I can watch it on my ITV app.Comment

This fight needed to happen directly on the heals of the first. I have my fingers crossed that the second edition will deliver, but I’m not betting on it.Comment
