Just to stop the spread of misinformation he definitely picked Canelo over Derevychanko.

The IBF was going to grant GGG his request to fight on May 5th against vanes under the condition that immediately following the fight he would fight Derevychanko.

Under that scenario and what really happened GGG would have fought Vanes regardless first.

So it would have been impossible to call it a duck unless you truly believe Canelo is a worse option than Derevychanko.

And. The only reason GGG was in that scenario to begin with was because Canelo got caught using.

So GGG requested to fight Vanes INSTEAD of Dervy his mando and the IBF said only if you fight Dervy next. He could have fought Dervy then Canelo as Dervy was willing and available to fight on May 5th.
