    Was he outboxing him?

I can see why some think that but also Ruiz was completely comfortable in there. Joshua was always the fighter with his back closest to the ropes, it seemed he could never really take centre ring against Ruiz. I have no problem thinking AJ might’ve edged the early rounds because nothing happened, but i always felt Ruiz looked the more comfortable of the two, being where he wanted to be and in a good range. AJ could never really establish position enough.

The more i see the first fight and think about the rematch, i think Ruiz might just be all wrong for Joshua. But at least Joshua did show he can land big shots and put Ruiz down too, so it’s not like he can’t have success.

    Intriguing rematch for sure.

all AJ knows now that Ruiz has faster hands and can counter those long jabs, plus Ruiz has the power to buzz AJ out again.

He was getting hit clean all the rounds and losing rounds so no that’s not outboxing he timed Ruiz perfectly

yep Ruiz 's jab was stinging AJ. He was catching AJ with it head and body.

I mean the first 2 rounds were very cagey but Joshua was landing more shots I believe and Joshua obviously knocked down Ruiz shortly after. If Joshua can you his size and reach he can I believe outbox Ruiz. Ruiz clearly has faster hands but his footwork is nothing special at all.

Going off compubox flawed system try make a point? Ok I’ll play game with you first two rounds was 12-8 in aj favor he landed more in first and didn’t in second... Aj threw 3more punches in first two rounds if want to use compubox statistics, that’s far from outboxing his opponent just using those stats.. He kept giving up position to the slow feet Ruiz and couldn’t establish position in middle of ring actually fighting having to go backwards... Even aj was asking McCracken after just the first round what’s next game plan because he wasn’t able to establish position

According to compubox (I know, not gospel), AJ outlanded 8 to 3 in round one and Ruiz outlanded 5 to 4 in round 2. Cagey is a correct way to describe the first two rounds. The thing that stood out to me is how much Ruiz had to lunge to get at AJ. And this was despite AJ's pawing, basically non-existant jab. The height and distance, and Ruiz's relatively slow feet had him almost launching in like a torpedo. I think he was emboldened when he wasn't greeted with a hard jab and right follow in the face. Have to see if AJ can establish this in the rematch or it will be the first fight all over again.
