Comments Thread For: Team Pacquiao's pursuit of Spence shouldn't progress beyond talk

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - I appreciate Manny Pacquiao. The things he's accomplished since reaching the championship level more than two decades ago measure up to anyone over the same time frame, and he'll be a deserving International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee at the very instant he becomes eligible. But in spit...

    PAC the top 5 ATG.
Still has enough to beat Spence and CrWford.

Nah he don't. He takes too many rounds off to beat Spence. Spence is way too active and has way too much of a gas tank and hits hard too. He would break down and stop Pac or simply outgun and Outland him if he can with the Mikey Garcia approach.

Crawford on the other hand I feel sometimes he waits too much and thinks too much. Sometimes I feel he tries to be too technical when he should just go for it. PAC could feint him to death while taking those long breaks he seems to need nowadays. However he Crawford decided to go for it, he would beat up and stop Pac.

Prime Pac is a different story though, I honestly have no idea how those fights would go against 2009-2010 fight, I give the slight edge to Pac.

Not sure if he can beat Spence, after his last fight with Thurman Pac proved he's up there at the top of the division. Not so sure Mayweather will pass up a 150M paycheack with pac, He can't get Kabib in the ring so, Pac's probably the tix. Japanese midgets getting old quik

I think Fitzsimmons isn't actually a bad writer but he keeps coming out with these weirdly antagonistic pieces every so often. I don't think that Pacquiao is realistically capable of beating Spence either, but the line "If Pacquiao even dreams of beating Spence, he better wake up and apologise" feels like the sort of thing some fanboy or troll would say on here. Then I'm reminded of this article of his posted about a month ago where he was basically crying that people were being mean and abusive with their feedback to his writing:

While I know I’m not Chris Mannix (I’m older) and this isn’t Sports Illustrated (we’re cheaper), there are no doubt at least a few things he and I have in common. First off, we’re both featured in multiple forms of media. Yeah, fine… he works for a gigantic magazine and has a recurring role on a live streaming conglomerate and I write for a boxing-specific website and do an occasional gig on satellite radio.

Is it really a surprise when you post inflammatory, fanboy-grade stuff like this, Lyle?

WTF is this bull****. This is not so subtle hating on Spence because he doesn't want Spence to become the man at 147 with PPV pedigree. Why didn't anybody stop De La Hoya from beating Julio César Chávez. Yet another fear of a Black planet style article.

Not agreeing completely. I think Pacquiao would still be competitive against Spence. He's still got speed, power and all the experience in the world. I don't agree with how Thurman is being taken for granted. I think Thurman is still a tremendous fighter that can still compete and possibly beat the top guys at WW.
