If I hear any catchweight nonsense then Alvarez will diminish even further in my estimation of him.

Sidenote: If Canelo pulls it off; There is the issue of the LHW division seemingly on the cusp of a unification process. If it gets as far as one fighter holding three belts, looking to pick up the WBO belt, and granted Alvarez is still in possession of it, does he have the cajones to take on the likes of Bivol, Gvozdyk, or Beterbiev?
Of course not. By then he will be seeking out a 39-year-old Golovkin to reluctantly address their third stanza - most likely.
And then retires to avoid anyone good right??? Was Jacobs old and no good???

Your dumb ass is going to be mad no matter WHO Canelo fights! You were crying about Sergiy when everyone thought he was next and now your crying about Kov. Who almost EVERYONE not named ****** like you has him ranked Top #3 at LHW.

        So I'll ask again -
Is Kov so old, he should retire right now before he gets hurt ???? And who would be the guy to hurt him ?!?!?

        Ahhhh.....but it's Nelo we're talking about.
If he fights Canelo he is 57 year old BUM. If not he’s arguably the best current LHW.

It's definitely a "fascinating' match up! Even though Kov is older, he's still the much bigger man (6'0" vs. 5'8"), and we know he still has power! He's also coming off of wins over Eleider Alvarez, and a KO over Yarde! Props to Canelo for seeking the challenge! I think it's a 50-50 fight!

Yes it's an intriguing fight with some danger for Canelo but let's also acknowledge that from 160-175,Kovalev is maybe the 7th or 8th most dangerous opponent for Canelo to take on. Similar to how Cotto wasn't the most dangerous mw champion when Canelo chased that title, just like beefy Smith wasn't the most dangerous option when Canelo chased that jmw title and just like fielding wasn't the most dangerous option when Canelo chased a smw title. Since the scare with the Lara fight 5 yrs ago, team Canelo has definitely been strategic with how they've moved.

It's only compelling if Kovalev isn't drained

If Kovalev use a good footwork and unload his punch like his last two fights then he can win. Canelo will be slower as he will be heavier in Light Heavy. Kovalev can take advantage to out box Canelo...

The penalty will probably be 1 Milllion US dollars a pound (that's about 67 Million Russian rubles). :-)

With Kovalev's size advantage and that good jab of his I think this is a great fight.

As long as Canelo doesn't try to weight drain him with a catch weight (which I hope he doesn't do as that would ruin everything) then this will be tremendous. I can't wait.
