That's the whole point of the catchweight. To weaken the bigger man and make him feel weak and awful. If Canelo wants to claim he beat the real Kovalev he should not use a catchweight or a morning weigh in. If he can't handle it then stay at 160 or 168. Draining a bigger man to win is chickenshyt BS no matter who does it. Mayweather, Pacquiao or Canelo it's wrong for any world title fight to be fought at a catchweight in my opinion. If no world title is at stake then whatever both boxers agree on is fine but title fights should have meaning and tradition. If Canelo wins at a catchweight does he get to defend his new title at a catchweight as well?

and if there is a catchweight... the fight becomes irrelevant

Benavidez/Smith would be much better opponents imho

not because they are more dangerous... because the fights are more credible

if Canelo fights Kovalev at 175... he is a baaaaad man
I agree with all of this.

Krusher will cash out. So watch him agree to that catch weight.

Red - Yeah. As long as the other LHWs are willing to fight him there.

Tough crowd, if Canelo takes it at 175 with no rehydration clause then he’s a crazy badaśś man!

If he even wins it legitimately then he’s clear pound for pound number 1!

Canelo is a tank but people forgetting he’s moving up 2 weight classes and fighting an elite decorated champ at 175 whether past prime or not that’s a big jump!

Kovalev would knock Canelo out if they make it happen with no stipulations!

Canelo will try to drain Kovalev down to a weight where he will be weak. He will leverage every advantage. If Kovalev team insist on 175, I don’t think the fight happens.
But Mayweather fans say draining don't make you weak , Canelo was strong at 152 is the Mayweather fan boys mind set .Canelo trying to drain someone is taboo to them

that is exactly what I think... right on the button

if there is a catchweight... I am not interested in that fight

and yet.... I think Canelo would be nuts to fight Kovalev at 175

Kovalev at 175 is a DANGEROUS fight... period

a rehydration clause is far more acceptable, and less detrimental to Kovalev... than a catchweight

they can manage/mitigate the rehydration, by managing the weight loss

if Canelo insists on a catchweight... I get it, but I am not interested... I actually think it is more likely that you hit the nail on the head..... the fight will most likely happen at the full divisional limit of 175, with a rehydration clause

And one more thing - fans (Canelo haters) should not cry about rehydration clause of 10 lbs because:
1)It's morning weigh in at 8-10 am, fight will be at 11 pm so fighters can gain another 2-4 pounds.
2)Kovalev said he fixed his diet (after losses) and for Alvarez rematch he gained only 5 pounds (he was 81.5 kilos (180 pounds))
