Callum Smith is mad at Eddie Hearn

I think one of the reasons BJS went to Matchroom was to actually get that unification with Callum. But it's a smart move if you're managing Callum, that's the hardest fight out there for him imo. He'd probably much rather square up against the other champions like Benavidez, or even Plant, who's a couple levels below BJS. Shít, he could even fight Eubank Jr. All those other fights better suit his style rather than a Saunders fight, for roughly the same amount of money. Why not?
I'd think it'd be harder to get BJS to sign a deal than Callum. Callum seems like hes still flying under the radar so beggars cant be choosers with big fights.
That said I think Callum loses all the big fights hes likely to get. Hes right up there with Andrade & to a lesser degree Hughie as being massively overrated by fans to me. I mean they clearly dont suck, but I dont think any are as good as advertised. And the only reason Callum is #1 at 168 is cuz most of the guys who coulda beaten him didnt enter the WBSS likely cuz their promoter/manager didnt see the benefit in fighting in a UK-centric tournament as fighters largely fighting in the US.
I agree with you though, I don't really rate Callum that high in the division yet either. Think we chatted about this a while ago on a thread about the Super middleweight division. The Skogland, Holzken fights got me weary on Callum.Comment

Lol. He asked a simple question and I answered. Where was it verified that the poster I responded to saw the N'Dam fight and subsequently forgot it because it apparently left such little impression? Who is "nobody"? These are rhetorical questions. Here's another - why strain to make something out of nothing here when you could be cobbling together another insightful "Tank is the future" or "DAZN is 4 *******" thread?Last edited by Sweet Scions; 08-27-2019, 04:53 PM.Comment

It's weird that he wins the WBSS, walks away with a couple belts, and his first fight back is on an undercard in the U.S. You'd think they would have set up a better opportunity for him at a 20K seat arena in the UK.Comment

I know what you mean, but IIRC the Ruiz-Joshua slot was basically deliberately selected by Hearn as an introduction to the U.S. audience as a quick stopover when there were already (I think) tentative talks for things like the BJS unification. Obviously he was never going to become an overnight household name over that, but a small step in the right direction I guess.Last edited by Sweet Scions; 08-27-2019, 08:06 PM.Comment
