I think Canelo wins. Kovalev had too much trouble with Yarde. He is way past prime and that's why Canelo targeted him only among the 175 pound champions. The fight will be in Vegas so Kovalev probably needs to KO Canelo to get the win. Canelo has a great chin so he is hard to KO.
Canelo vs the Krusher who wins ?

Let's look at some important variables here.
Age and weight: Kovalev is 36. He is a career 175lber. Any catch weight or hydration clause is a disadvantage to him. He has stamina problems at the LHW limit (manifests at second half of the fight) so any catch weight and hydration limit will severely affect him.
Now how about Canelo's "vaunted" body punching?
If they fight at normal weight limit without any hydration clause, I'd favor Kovalev. Why?
Physical advantage:
Kovalev is taller and has a long reach for a white guy. His reach is longer than Yarde's.
If Canelo is to land those body shots, he'll have to get past the reach and risk being hit by power shots. And if Canelo is to land those body shots, well Kovalev is used to taking shots from opponents bigger and most probabaly stronger than Canelo. So I think, he will handle it good enough.
Fighting style:
Kovalev fights on the outside with good jab. And because he is taller and has longer reach, he doesnt have to over reach and risk being countered.
Jacob is the last above average fighter whose height is close to Kovalev that Canelo fought. Unfortunately, Jacobs doesnt really jab that much and is naturally smaller than Kovalev. But if we are to glean something from that fight, we know Canelo wont be risking too much on a body shot.
And this is when Canelo will utilize his advantages:
Hand speed.
Head movement/defense.
People should realize, Kovalev lost only to fighters taller, longer and stronger than Canelo - Ward and Alvarez.
If Canelo is to win this, it will be outboxing and out thinking Kovalev.
A catchweight or hydration clause will drastically change the possibilities.Comment

I've already made a thread detailing how canelo doesn't stop or drop anyone good, yet kovalev is easy work for him? For all people talk about his weak body,he's never been dropped or stopped by any body shot by grow light heavies, but canelo is going to put him down? Canelo won't be facing some chinny Khan in there, and if he decides to bum rush kovalev he's probably going to end up on his back counting stars like yarde.Canelo by stoppage with body shots after the 5th round but no later than the 8th. Look, they've sparred each other before so Canelo knows he can take Kovalev's power. Plus Ward has given the world the blue print on how to bear Kovalev. In addition to Kovalev visibly slowing down as he ages, this is easy work for Canelo ala Khan. I'd give Canelo no credit for this fight. If Canelo was truly trying to make a statement or stake his claim as a badass, fight Bivol. To me Bivol is the boogieman at 175.Comment

people forget about kovalev's skills, he isn't just a puncher. even at this stage of his career, he shows he can box beautifully. no CW bull**** and he should beat canelo.Comment

I can understand if you think Canelo can nick a close controversial decision but I’m baffled by the amount of people who think he just goes in there and destroys Kovalev with body shots. I know he’s past his best but he’s still a top fighter and way bigger than anyone Canelo has faced.
What about the things Canelo has to worry about
- getting inside to land the body shots
- avoiding Kovalevs elite jab
- avoiding Kovalevs power, he has a great chin at middleweight but how do we know he’ll be able to take punches well from a big puncher at light heavy?
- carrying his power up to 175 lbs, (his power isn’t as great as it’s made out to be in the first place)
Everyone is so fixated on Kovalev getting hit with some body shots lmao.
Kovalev would absolutely dwarf Canelo in there.Comment

At this point Kovalev will never be a safe bet again, literally never. He's a shell of his former self, still experienced enough to squeeze out wins but he's far from the man in his division and he's far from the beast he was. I'd put money behind Canelo in a fight, people focused on size..you gotta hit your opponent for that to matter and you have to not practically hunch over and leave your face exposed when you get hit to the body like he now tends to do. Short of Kovalev fighting at the end of a jab and connecting his money shot I don't see him winning that fight and I don't see him disciplined enough to do that for 12 rounds, nor do I see him tying up Canelo on the inside without getting points deducted after the fifth or sixth time it happens. Just my intuition.Comment
