He is literally a killer in the ring with experience to match Canelo. You won't see Andrade, Golovkin, Charlo or Jacobs, all of whom tower over Canelo, challenge themselves in the same way. If Canelo does beat Kovalev -- and that is a big if-- it will be a historically significant fight. I hope that maybe then the haters will cut Canelo some slack.
Maybe I am in the minority but I think it's such a dumb fight.

It's along the lines of Roy Jones versus John Ruiz.

I don't think it was the punch that won the fight so much as him being gassed. Clearly that jab had enough on it to put him down, but again I think that jab lands & doesn't drop him all night til he was just physically done in the 11th & if that 10th round hadn't ended early he mighta not made it out of that round.

Not many middleweights have moved up and dethroned a light heavyweight champ. Bernard Hopkins comes to mind. There might be one or two others. So a Kovalev vs Canelo fight will be historic if Canelo wins.

Its a weird ass fight I never expected to be on the table thats for sure. So yea I'm more in agreement with you its kinda dumb, but its for that sexy 4th weight division belt for Canelo so I get it for that purpose.

I understand that. I just question if Kov is the best light heavy anymore as Ruiz was clearly not the best heavy when Jones beat him.

It puts an asterisk next to that achievement.

Judging by this fight it does look like Ward was correct..."Kovalev is about 70% of the fighter that he used to be".

Yarde is really big (thickly muscled) and strong, with a good chin. He's also quite athletic, but his skills are not great. He was behind throughout the whole fight except in the 7th and especially the 8th round. After that he was spent and was getting hurt by almost everything that Kov threw. In the 10th round Yarde was really hurt ....more hurt than he was in the 11th and from the KO jab. I think Yarde didn't have hardly anything left after he got hurt in the 10th....He was hurt and extremely exhausted.

Yarde showed tons of heart though and he's very physically strong and durable....though the big muscles may be limiting his stamina. Kovalev looks well beyond his best. He's been in too many wars and he fades way too quickly now days.

Canelo knows what he's doing by choosing Kovalev for his next fight.
Spot on summary! Kovalev boxed well then looked vulnerable but came back well, definitely deteriorating!
Yarde and his team need to do less talking!

And Lara was an awful example, his nickname is literally “the American Dream” haha
                    because that was his dream!

i don't think so - the Cubans get slammed by a small but vocal minority for the Cuban style - boxing/running - Lara has always been seen as Cuban despite his nickname.
When they introduce foreign fighters in the USA they say "introducing ABC-european-fighter fighting out of Brooklyn" and that's done to introduce a bit of support for that fighter and for the benefit of US casuals but true boxing fans, tv commentators and promoters see fighters from where they are born not where they happen to be living which can change anyway just if they happen to change a trainer.
