Give Kovalev credit, he came out in the next round and stepped it up and eventually stopped the younger man. And he took those body shots in the middle rounds too. Give credit where it is due. And I was listening to Ward and Bradley and they said Yarde’s training does not include sparring. That’s really strange.
You can give Kovi all the accolades possible but this was Yarde’s fight to win , and he fughed up big time
Not realizing what point Kovi was in ( Buddy was gonna stop the fight , that means his fighter was totally hurt ) he just had to dig to that body and the head shots were there for the win
Kovi can’t take more than three punches to the head without doing that funky chicken
Yarde’s inexperience and lack of sparring are to blame imo

The How to Beat Kovalev Book is written & even civilians know it, but for some reason Tunde didn't. He was way to c#cky going into that fight. I read something were he said he thought trainers deserve more acclaim for boxers wins. Well I think he should be feeling like this L is more on him than Yarde. And he should consider making some alterations to system 9 & maybe rename it system 10 or 11 cuz I think Tunde gots another year or two worth of learning & improvement to make on it.

      Good fight, fun fight doe.
I think their plan was to wait for kovalev to diminish in the middle rounds as he’s been known to. Going in hard when he’s still fresh would’ve sapped his energy (Yarde) as kov’s would be controlling the distance with his straight punches. If Yarde wasn’t going to get him out at 9 it wasn’t ever going to happen, he was so close... hell of a fight

Something your country just failed at.
isn't he an interim champ? You're reaching. Yafai, Warrington, Campbell, Smith, and recent and present contenders galore and present - plus still-active former champs such as Frampton, Joshua.

Ok, Canada has a smaller population - i'll give you that but USA's population is 5 times the size of the Uk's - we punch our weight (or population) - can't say the same for Canada, France Germany China etc.

        • Fun fight that was!

Judging by this fight it does look like Ward was correct..."Kovalev is about 70% of the fighter that he used to be".

Yarde is really big (thickly muscled) and strong, with a good chin. He's also quite athletic, but his skills are not great. He was behind throughout the whole fight except in the 7th and especially the 8th round. After that he was spent and was getting hurt by almost everything that Kov threw. In the 10th round Yarde was really hurt ....more hurt than he was in the 11th and from the KO jab. I think Yarde didn't have hardly anything left after he got hurt in the 10th....He was hurt and extremely exhausted.

Yarde showed tons of heart though and he's very physically strong and durable....though the big muscles may be limiting his stamina. Kovalev looks well beyond his best. He's been in too many wars and he fades way too quickly now days.

Canelo knows what he's doing by choosing Kovalev for his next fight.

Yeah that’s from lack of sparring
Not from that jab all fughin night

            • Very good fight. Experience defeated youth while showing real championship heart & a second wind in coming back from almost getting stopped in the 7th/8th round. Anybody knocking Yarde for going down on a jab should understand that he had ZERO left in the tank after almost taking Kovalev out & had taken a ton of jabs throughout the fight already. A slight breeze woulda laid him out with how awfully dead he was. His lack of exp, no sparring during camp & lack of real conditioning bc of his muscle mass all worked to his detriment in the latter half of the fight. Hopefully he learns from this & comes back better.

big amount of guys out of Montreal (Beterbiev, Alvarez, Pascal, Lemieux, Stiverne Plus former champs like Adonis Stevenson and Lennox Lewis) Montreal is the only spot though that has boxing. Rest of the country focuses on MMA unfortunatly. Lewis is the only one there that wasn't out of Montreal.

Another reason I'm so angry about the Whyte situation is because Oscar Rivas is out of Montreal too.

The blueprint to Kovalev is some King Hippo sh^t as f#cking nutty as that sounds.

Canelo will show wuts up in a couple months. Canelo by KO via the body. Or McGirt might actually have to stop it next time.
I know it's an eight figure payday and sometimes you just got to hop on the train when it passes. That being said, November 2nd (rumored date) is a very quick turnaround for a 36 years old fighter who has been trough some wars.

He does look kinda shot....He was gassed in the third or 4rth round. His saving grace is that he is just a much better technical fighter than Yarde.
The Beterbiev fight would be great, I'd give Kov a lot of credit if he made that fight

Canelo has a very good shot at winning that fight but it'll take much more than 3 rounds to start consistently hitting Kov in the gut. This isn't lame @ss Rocky Fielding we're talking about.
