Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: I Think Sergey Kovalev Will Stop Anthony Yarde Late

Former unified two division champion, Andre Ward, believes unbeaten Anthony Yarde has a very tough task ahead of him when he faces WBO world champion Sergey Kovalev on Saturday night in Russia. Ward, who handed Kovalev two of the three defeats on his record, was very impressed with Russian boxer's last ring outing.

I agree Kovalev boxed with a lot of discipline and control in his last fight and I think he is better fighter if he continues to box like this, Yarde is dangerous but its a big jump in class and Kov gets a late stoppage.

Maybe if he uses some dirty tactics like Ward.

... absolutely nobody is able to emulate Ward... (he had it in his blood)...

the bookies have this real close by boxing standards. They are normally not wrong so i'm wondering what they are seeing.

Kovalev has shown he can be timed by both Ward and Alvarez. That is Yarde's best hope.

Warren can say all he likes about Yarde's chances but if i look at this cynically it looks like a cash-out for great money. Which diligent promoter sends a supposedly top prospect (not contender) into the lion's den to face a faded but still very good borderline HOF champ ?

I know, the odds are crazy for this fight, you can get 8/13 on Kovalev at Betfred.
Sometimes the odds are effected by the sheer amount of bets made, a fighters odds can get backed in if a lot of money is placed on them (like McGregor vs mayweather, who was eventually backed in to 7/2 which was the same odds Canelo had against mayweather) Brits back with their hearts and have probably laid heavy on Yarde, I’m going to take advantage of the odds and put some money on Kovalev.
I 100% agree with Ward, Kovalev might have faded a little but he’s still pretty much an elite level fighter, you can’t go from fighting C level fighters and bypass any B level fighters or gatekeepers and expect to be prepared for what’s in store this Saturday.

Not from what I've seen with the bookies - Kovalev is around 1/2, and Yarde is around 8/5. Kovalev is the clear favourite.

If he fought Yarde he would be saying Yarde would win, meaningless opinion.

Ya if Yarde hits Kovalev dirty - like Ward did - square on the beltline...wtf. Cant be Russian without Vodka and cant have Vodka without shit body conditioning

Here was the dirtiest moment though. This single punch - and it was DIRTY - ended the fight

Mark my words: Kovalev is not the same guy anymore and he's ripe for the picking. Yarde by KO, sometime around the 9th.
