Marg has a chance anyway, and Castillo was never a lateral mover. VS Floyd he did the kind of things that Marg would try to do. Work the body and throws lots of hard shots. Margarito also throws shots from odd angles and from every angle, another plus for him.

Marg can't be number 2 because Floyd already is, behind Baldomir. But most people see Marg as the 3rd guy in the division and that should be good enough...maybe not for a fight right now, but at the same time Floyd should not be allowed to fight any more guys like Sharmba Mitchell in place of Margarito.

I said Castillo was a nice lateral mover, Margarito can't do it all and is very stiff and flat footed. Also those angles aint there on floyd. looping punches benefit floyd better. Floyd already has the faster hands plus a straight right hand lands 2 times before one of Margaritos looping punches. I agree, I dont think floyd can fight a Sharmba no more at 147, but margarito needs to fight guys like Sharmba mitchell at 147, meaning a former champ, someone significant or once significant.

You need to watch more Margarito. He's one his toes most of the fight, not moving a lot but always at least on his toes so he can move when he needs to. One thing defensively that will help him vs Floyd is the height, an advantage that Castillo did not have. Marg also brings more pounds to the table than Castillo did. We don't know what kind of trouble Marg's angled punches will give Floyd cuz Floyd won't even risk it right now. But it's been one of Marg's best attributes throughout his career.

If Paul Williams beats Mitchell like he should, then there's no point in Margarito fighting him.

True, but that is only one of the few knocks against Cory which is less than Maragrito by the way. I got atleast 10 knocks on Margarito.

2. Huge Unknown to the masses( my girlfriends dont know him)
3. Won his title off an Eliminator
4. WBO belt is the weakest of the 4
5. Hasn't fought a proven fighter or P4P fighter
6. Has limited skills ( no head movement, slow punches, etc.)
7. Defended his paper title aginst low ranked WBO contenders for 4or 5 yrs.
8. Lost to Santos about 3 fights ago (santos is hardly elite)
9. Other fighters offer more and had more success (Baldomier & Spinks)
10. Bob Arum is his promoter!

floyd is more into his record then anything right now, including money. he may think he can beat margarito, but thats not to say that he isnt willing to admit that this wont be another gatti fight (most likely). if he wasnt a little scared about this, would he turn down the most money hes ever made in an easy payday? The most confident people about floyd r his fans, if this was not true, he would also be thinking this was another easy fight, and for 8 mil i doubt he would turn down an easy fight.

4. Margarito atleast has a belt.

Allow me to preface this comment by saying that Cort's reasons are not all legitimate. But Charlie, your criticism of #1 should read all 3 ducked him right? I mean I guess Zab wants to fight him now but that is only because he is pathetic and has no options. Shane still doesn't want him and well we have argued about Floyd forever so I just won't say anything. But seriously, if one ducked then they all ducked. And frankly the money aspect is not very convincing to me. Yes Floyd has made comments about wanting to make $, but he already has a lot of $ and I don't see his bank account closing anytime soon.
