So did Mayweather officially duck Margarito now that it's over?

Originally posted by amagninI think it is fair to say that both of them are fairly untested at welterweight. Margarito won the title in a title eliminator and has only beaten Cintron; 6 heads Lewis; and Gomez in terms of big names. Floyd beat Mitchell and Judah. Both of these resumes leave plenty to do at WW. Margarito never fought any of the other recognized title holders like Collazo or Judah. Mayweather won a totally bogus title from a defeated Judah. Neither of them are the real champion of the division. Baldomir is plain and simple. He beat the undisputed champion and thereby became the champ. If I had to pick a resume, I choose Floyd's because at least he beat Judah who recently was "the man" at 147.
thats fair, amagnin. They both haven't done that much at the welterweight division. But how long has Margarito been fighting at welterweight? It hasnt even been a year since Floyd been at welterweight and he has already fought former champs at 147. Zab was recently the undisputed welterweight champ at 147 in 2006. What champs have Margarito fought at 147 in the last 2 years, 3 years, hell ever. Have any of his opponents even been ranked in the top 5 in the WBO in last 2 years? Again, what makes Margarito the best at 147, who is Margarito to duck?

Originally posted by amagninOh I feel you. If your BEST win is against a prospect who was basically unproven against superior opposition, your resume needs work. His fans and promoter would have you believe that every fighter in the world under 160 has been ducking him. Apparently Baldomir backed out of a fight against him last year (but I don't actually know what happened). For all I know maybe all of the welterweights are ducking him.. maybe that is why he fought Daniel Santos at 154.

To clear something up, Floyd and Zab are as close of friends as two people can be in the sport. Floyd fought him to give Zab a payday and clearly held back when he could have stopped Judah anywhere from the 5th round on. Judah losing to Baldomir also had a lot to do with Floyd going through with the fight. Had Judah destroyed Baldomir in one round, I'm not so sure we would have seen Mayweather vs. Judah
