Counter Arguments To Manny Pacquiao Being an "Eight" Division Champion
Collapse

Who am I going to believe? My own eyes since I can actually look these facts up or some dude on the internet. Sorry but ACTUAL boxing historians say Pacquiao is a 8 Division Champ. Hell even if we went back to the original 8 weights he won titles in 4 of them.Comment

I don't give a fk if the Queen of England calls him a 20x champ
" I can actually look these facts up "
then why are you sitting here arguing with me ?
FACT: Pac did not win a title at 126 or 140... go look it up
and don't be ridiculous... suggesting that Pac would have won 4x titles back in Armstrong's era is exactly what is wrong with shltty casual-fans today
FACT: if there was only one champion at 135, his name would not be David Diaz... and if there was only one champion at 154, his name would not be Antonio Margarito
have some respect... those guys back in the day beat REAL champions... it is MUCH easier to win a title today
titles mean nothing...
WHO did you beat, with consideration given to when/howComment

If Pac can beat thurman level guys at 4o. Why would you have any doubts he could Be a champ in all the divisions below 147?
Of course he's a 8 division champComment

Back in the day? Is that your line or argument? If anything they fought weaker competition then is around now. Keep up with your vain argument thou, you know and I know that Pac is an 8 weight world champ (4 weight if we want to use the Original 8 weight divisions).I don't give a fk if the Queen of England calls him a 20x champ

Who was the lineal champion at 126 and at140 again when Pac beat Barrera and Hatton..... Or do you not recognize that title EVEN THOU ITS BEEN THE STANDARD for the last 9 decades in boxing, I bet because it doesn't fit into your narative thou....
Here I will make it easier for you since clearly your either biased or too obtuse to understand.Last edited by strykr619; 08-18-2019, 07:10 PM.Comment

Yea can't argue with that very much.
Is there anyone else who's considered a multiple weight champ who never won a legit 4 title belt & just won a ring belt? Thats the unique angle to this with Manny. Or do they get talked about as less weight division champs by the masses cuz of that.Comment

no, that is bullshlt.... The Ring is just a magazine
they do not mandate, and they do not sanction
they are just a magazine, like this.....

Pac did not win a title at 126 or 140... that is just a cool-story-broComment

Again, I think it's imperative that this accomplishment is examined in context, not shovelled out indiscriminately as if we're comparing the number of World Cup titles won by different nations. IMO Pacquiao has had one of the greatest careers in modern boxing, but this 8-division thing is over used by fanatics and journalists alike.Comment

In this era he is considered an 8 weight division champ.
The 154 was a circus money grab fight. Neither he or Margo did anything to deserve a shot at that title plus it was at a catchweight agains an in house fighter.
Back in the day there were only half of the weight classes, 15 rounds, same day weigh in and 1 or two belts.
It is not fair to compare fighters from back in the day to now.Comment
