Andy Ruiz should laugh at $9 million

It's hard to say whether Ruiz is a true star or not. Sure, he's known, but I wonder how many people would turn out to see him fight if it was against a no name. His story is compelling but I'm curious to know if people are more attracted to the story or the fighter. Ruiz should just take the money and secure the fight. Sure, he should get more but he signed the contract knowing what was at stake. Should he win again, he'll command whatever he wants.Comment

Then he shouldn't have agreed to that purse prior to signing the contract. He’s getting screwed if he takes $9 million for this rematch.
Hasim Rahman made $10 million for his rematch with Lennox Lewis. That fight happened in 2001. If you adjust for inflation, Rahman made $14.5 million for that fight in 2019 dollars.
GGG just made $14 million for fighting Steve Rolls. Ruiz is the heavyweight champion for crying out loud.
Why do you make troll thread after troll thread? What are you trying to achieve?Comment

I agree. Contracts were made to be broken anyways, especially in boxing. Did anyone ever think a 100 million dollar pot would be up for Ruiz vs AJ? There never would be one either if Ruiz had not KTFO of AJ. To say he doesnt deserve a raise after that is pure sour g****s.He’s getting screwed if he takes $9 million for this rematch.

He would not have got the first fight if he didn't. Why do you want Ruiz to be paid so little compared to AJ? Do you really not think Ruiz is a driving force for the 100 million dollar offer put up be the Saudis? Did you notice no one put up 100 mill for the first fight? The fight is only that valuable now cause of the Ruiz performance.Comment

At some point you have to have common sense though and he already agreed to the purse.
The endComment

None of us know what was in the contract. None of us know what Ruiz should or shouldn't do. The UK fanboys insisting Ruiz should do anything Hearn says don't have enough information about how things are worded or what Ruiz's legal position is to make a judgement. US fanboys insisting Ruiz shouldn't honor the rematch clause don't have enough information about how things are worded to make a judgement either.
Sometimes it's okay to say, "I don't know." Why don't we all wait and see how this plays out instead of thread after thread and page after page of random fans insisting they have all of the answers.Comment
