Ruiz has to be the dumbest boxer alive or at least his legal representatives are.

If he doesn't go through with this rematch, he might as well retire because --

(a) If he fights anyone other than AJ next, he will be sued and will lose in court. Hearn has a rematch contract.

(b) Hearn will sue any promoter who interferes with his rematch clause, thus if Ruiz can't fight...how will he make a living to pay for his crazy ass spending.

(c) IBF will strip him due to not honoring his mandatory (which he can't because no promoter will promote his fight out of fear of legal litigation). WBA & WBO may soon follow suit and strip him if their champion can't defend his titles.


Ruiz was a voluntary fight, he didn't "earn" it per se so he should just honor his contract. Hearn and co are not fighting in the U.S or Mexico...what part of this does he ot understand.

Oh and he say Joshua is scared of him? How? Ruiz seems to forget that Joshua dropped him too.

huh? When he signed on for the initial fight, he signed for the rematch clause as well. No new contract has to be drawn up. Pretty sure it was cut and dry in the contract. I could be wrong. But it seems like Ruiz's side thinks different. And if thats the case, hope he's ready for a long court battle and potential loss of money he earned from the 1st fight and any punitive and compensatory damages due to not honoring the 2nd fight. He better lawyer up ASAP imo.

btw, I think Ruiz has one helluva shot to repeat in the rematch. Not sure why he wouldnt honor what he signed off on...

What did Hearn give Ruiz for the rematch? Hearn said there are two different contracts.

Haymon working hard to keep those titles under PBC. Makes sense as he would control all of the Heavyweight titles.
Problem is not taking the fight means a few of those titles would be vacated and AJ would be installed as the interim or be put in a fight to pick them up right away.
He signed the deal to get his shot. Not really any way out where he gets what he wants.
I think they’ll throw him some extra cash and the fight happens in Saudi Arabia in Dec.

Ruiz won the fight but are we going to ignore that he got dropped him in the 3rd as well? Anyone can win the rematch...it's not like Ruiz dominated him from opening bell to finish.

In a 7 round fight, Joshua won 3 rounds on two of the judges scorecards (1,2, 5) & 4 rounds (1,2, 4, 5) on one judge scorecard and was up one round at the time of the stoppage.

No boxer is scared of another Boxer...if he loses to Ruiz again, so be it, the better man won but he wants the rematch. Let give Joshua some credit here.

That is what matters the most. Ruiz knows he can take Joshua's best shot. Joshua knows he can't take Ruiz's. Who hasn't given Joshua credit, the dude can fight he just got whooped.
