Comments Thread For: Ruiz: AJ Got the Rematch But It's Gonna Be On Our Terms

Andy Ruiz Jr. finally breaks his silence-sort of. The reigning unified heavyweight titlist continues to thrive in the aftermath of his upset knockout win over England's Anthony Joshua this past June at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The first-ever Mexican boxer to win a heavyweight title has been celebrated on both sides of the United States/Mexico border, with either country remaining his hosting preference for a contractually-bound rematch.

Instead, the word from Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn is that part two is set for Dec. 7 at a yet-to-be-erected venue in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. News of the location was met with immediate and vocal reaction, a considerable amount negative but none of it involving the defending titlist himself.

    At least until now.

"I know everyone is talking about the (second) fight and all that," Ruiz (33-1, 22KOs) noted on Tuesday through his verified social media channels. "We got the real news coming soon, but the fight is gonna happen soon.

"AJ got the rematch, yes we do got the rematch. But it's gonna be on my term(s) on our term(s). We're gonna bring it back here in the United States."

I hope Ruiz gets his way (which I highly doubt) so people will actually go to the fight. Plus a lot of people including casuals will be watching and a half full arena with nothing but men with long beards is not a good look for boxing.

LMAO! The fat man is scared, lol.

                Let the big litigation begin.

Regardless, it's all Eddie Hearn's fault. You know matchroom and PBC don't get along, yet you decided to pick a PBC fighter. This is why people do feasibility studies and risk assessment because things might go left. And when it was clear that AJ wasn't fit to fight that night and it has been clear from fight week - the fight should've been called off. Rematch clause isn't always a great safety net. AJ feels betrayed and no matter the number of boxers matchroom ends up signing - it won't replace AJ when he finally leaves matchroom. The signs and cryptic messages are clear...this is what happens when greed takes over.

Andy Ruiz is done. AJ isn't fighting in America or anywhere close to that continent. Just retire and throw all the belts in the bin. AJ will collect them back in the next two years and go on to become the undisputed. AJ also needs to keep pruning his team and keep Americans away from him.
