It's just like the night when Hearn jumped into the ring during the Froch/Bute fight.....before it was finished!.....he's been used to getting his own way.His dad(lol) 'we run the show'...Ruiz is having none of it and good for him. Regardless, it's all Eddie Hearn's fault. You know matchroom and PBC don't get along, yet you decided to pick a PBC fighter. This is why people do feasibility studies and risk assessment because things might go left. And when it was clear that AJ wasn't fit to fight that night and it has been clear from fight week - the fight should've been called off. Rematch clause isn't always a great safety net. AJ feels betrayed and no matter the number of boxers matchroom ends up signing - it won't replace AJ when he finally leaves matchroom. The signs and cryptic messages are clear...this is what happens when greed takes over.

Andy Ruiz is done. AJ isn't fighting in America or anywhere close to that continent. Just retire and throw all the belts in the bin. AJ will collect them back in the next two years and go on to become the undisputed. AJ also needs to keep pruning his team and keep Americans away from him.

So he agreed to a rematch, that is not a contract for the second fight. A new contract will have to be drawn up and agreed to.

Ruiz has to be the dumbest boxer alive or at least his legal representatives are.

If he doesn't go through with this rematch, he might as well retire because --

(a) If he fights anyone other than AJ next, he will be sued and will lose in court. Hearn has a rematch contract.

(b) Hearn will sue any promoter who interferes with his rematch clause, thus if Ruiz can't fight...how will he make a living to pay for his crazy ass spending.

(c) IBF will strip him due to not honoring his mandatory (which he can't because no promoter will promote his fight out of fear of legal litigation). WBA & WBO may soon follow suit and strip him if their champion can't defend his titles.


Ruiz was a voluntary fight, he didn't "earn" it per se so he should just honor his contract. Hearn and co are not fighting in the U.S or Mexico...what part of this does Ruiz not understand?

Oh and he say Joshua is scared of him? How? Ruiz seems to forget that Joshua dropped him too.

huh? When he signed on for the initial fight, he signed for the rematch clause as well. No new contract has to be drawn up. Pretty sure it was cut and dry in the contract. I could be wrong. But it seems like Ruiz's side thinks different. And if thats the case, hope he's ready for a long court battle and potential loss of money he earned from the 1st fight and any punitive and compensatory damages due to not honoring the 2nd fight. He better lawyer up ASAP imo.

btw, I think Ruiz has one helluva shot to repeat in the rematch. Not sure why he wouldnt honor what he signed off on...
