Kovalev is washed. I think cats thinking too much of that last fight where the other Alvarez didn't let his hands go. If he would have I doubt we are talking about Kovalev anymore in a serious way.
Yarde bout to f#ck his day up & it'd probably take Canelo longer to do it, but he'd do the same. Kovalev's mentally & physically not the same guy he was a few years back.
Kovalev is 3-3 in his last six fights, has been knocked out twice and is old.
I think people are forgetting these facts. And are making too much of the size of Kovalev. Give me skills over size any day of the week & Canelo is razor mfing sharp these days even if he's edging tip top 160 guys.
Now throw Canelo in with Beterbiev or Bivol or The Nail & I'm probably feeling extremely different about Canelo's chances. But Kovalev ain't these other guys.
I don't think this will even be a option come the morning of Aug. 25, but yea I think Canelo vs Kovalev is like a 70/30 fight Canelo's way. Canelo's got enough elusiveness to keep Kovalev's offense at bay & I don't think Kovalev will wanna hang with Canelo's body shots all night. Canelo likely stops him late or gets a wide decision.
I think you're on point with this comment. There's something electric about the combination of Canelo's power, speed counters and body punching that made GGG not want to engage and choose to box. This will come into play in the Kovalev fight for sure. However, Danny Jacobs had good some success late with Canelo. Both Canelo and Kovalev have stamina problems, we'll see who'll fade faster. Kovalev, too his credit was able to keep the other Alvarez at bay in his last fight. But as you said, let's see how he handles Yarde first, who to me looks younger, fresher and more powerful than Eleider Alvarez. Only thing is what happens if he gets it on the chin with elite power.
