the "Ring" titles and rankings..lets discuss

How much water does the Ring magazine and rankings hold in boxing? I would like to discuss this to get your opinions. I was just told by a fellow member that it was a joke??

well first off you kinda need to win a title to be at the top of the rings rankings. If you beat a guy in the top three who most likley has a title then you get the real belt. I like the ring rankings a lot. They really do show who the top dog in the divison is. Somtimes you don't even need a belt to be placed in the top three and thats even better because it shows how little the ABC belts matter. I cannot really argue about any fighters that have the ring belt and say there not the top dog if you know what I mean.

i like the rankings because ABC belts should not matter. the belts today are only used basically for the promoters and the commission to rob the fighters. belts don't really define fighters.

I like the ring and think their rankings are good, but they dont really affect the championship picture in any way.

You need to study up on the word Pound for Pound and where and why it was used and created.

most people view their rankings as the "true" rankings.

it was a created as a joke at first to try and bring all of the divisions fighters closer in regards of skill etc but it started a snowball affect and the word p4p started getting slung around more than junk at the local landfill site. fansa and fighters alike where hurling around the term p4p and therefore it has been devalued because of it almost to the point as its at today , and that its a joke
