Agreed. I was literally going to compare it to ODLH leaving Arum. Canelo can make just as much money individually as he can as part of GBP machine, why pay Oscar, Gomez etc “X” amount when you can have all that revenue for yourself.

Maybe that is the answer honestly, For DAZN to Step in and rework his deal making it separate from GBP and giving him Full Control of his money and his Own Promotion

There is something extremely strange that is going on. Most of these leaks and sources over the last week are clearly DAZN people. And their version of the events that are going to be most favorable to them have them never speaking to Canelo before agreeing to not 1 but 2 contracts the first 15 million over a single fight and second for 10 fights and 350 million. I have worked on deals with bigger companies than either GBP and DAZN and there was more due diligence for deals less than a tenth this size and that was not close to mission-critical.

The sources are making it sound like the only time they have talked to Canelo is right when he signed the deal before he blew off the ringing of the bell. Given they signed ggg in march they apparently did not speak to Canelo to at least March also. But, during this time Skipper and GBP had enough discussions that Skipper was sure that ggg 3 would happen this year. Yet Oscar has been a ghost according to sources and leaks. So who did Skipper get this guarantee from for ggg3?

My point being this version of the story does not seem likely. I just don't buy DAZN never speaking to Canelo and are now caught off guard. This is Skipper throwing DAZN and to a lessor degree Canelo under the bus. DAZN knew Canelo would not fight ggg again but they thought they could bully him into taking the fight. It's why the money wasn't there to pay Kov. And every other fight that was attempted leaked with ggg attached so Canelo would look like a ***** in public to try to force him into the fight. Or the budget would not be there. Or GBP forgot that mandatories were a thing. Or ggg somehow having 5 million for Dervy a fight that brings 0 subscribers. You have the boxing press that relies on leaks pushing for this fight.

Maybe I am full blown Conspiracy Theory right now and DAZN really is the ******est people to ever run a business with even a million in revenue.

With these Promoters it is very Possible if not Likely! AJ never met John Skipper until the Ruiz fight despite having a fight to fight situation with DAZN which was also strange to me. If a fighter is doing a deal with a APP or a Network then I would think that fighter need to be 100% INVOLVED with these Meetings and Negotiations since he is the one fighting and not the Promoter

dazn is not AJ primary broadcast partner nor a major source of his revenue at least as of yet so I can see why this meeting did not take place. It just makes 0 sense to me that DAZN would not have conversations with Canelo before signing him or any of the promotions for either fight. If the leaks are to believed what they are saying is DAZN and Canelo have never spoken with each other about what fights either would like to see made with Canelo.
