So let me get this straight...

We have a proclaimed Messican fighter being used to insult all Americans because the Brit contingency has decided he beat AJ and now everyone wants to talk about the rematch clause in the contract like Ruiz is an American. OK but lets be consistent shall we? What pisses me off about this is how more and more convenience seems to dictate Ruiz's position on this matter. I certainly don't see any Messicans fighting with the Brits about this issue.

This thread started silly and just got more and more silly. The clauses in the contract are voidable. Look up that term Sidknee do us all a favor. Voidable happens when a contract cannot be enforced for some reason. All either man has to do stop the contract is to refuse to fight. All the alphabet soup can do is try to enforce at this point. Guess what that means?

It means, that unless someone can force a man to fight, The real issue of where the fight is held has to be renegotiated...No one has the legal authority to tell Ruiz anymore than whom his next opponent should be. The same goes for Joahua by the way. This is because while it is PERHAPS hypothetically possible? do me a favor and try to figure out HOW this enforcement would work. This is the very essence of a voidable contract folks... Usually one party can break the contract. My point here is that a rematch clause, while not technically a voidable contract, functions that way in use...

Here is another way to look at it: a rematch clause is in essence an option. An option can either be exerscized, or not. In this case the option became much more valuable to ruiz when he won and he is trying to use that perceived value by making demands. If hearns wants a fight he has to be open to those demands...NOT because of the strength of the contract and clause, BUT because of the value of this fight for Joshua.

While crying in your beers casuals, thank the sycophants, the guys like Arum (wish he would be led to pasture, here Bob take a vacation stay away from screwing up boxing) and Hearns, etc. These guys created a means to make sure things like rematch clauses became legal issues and a way to avoid big fights...and thank all the alphabet groups who allow a guy to be a champion somewhere at all times. And thank the lot of youse guys who mock the lineal...the only title based on no other agency than fighting the best and winning.

there is no central organization that can force a fighter to do much of anything when it comes to dictating who can fight. So these fighters get to all run around and avoid each other... Like the Gypsy King is doing now... and it does not matter if these fighters are UK, USA, Messican...Chinese....Its the same crap.

So the stench of this thread would improve considerably if people would stop pretending this is an issue of enforcing a contract provision based on some such legal recourse. A rematch clause functions in boxing for all intensive purposes, as an option.
