George Foreman makes a case for multiple belts. Do you agree?

What Foreman fails to mention is that everyone would have to fight each other to actually determine a champion if there was one belt, unlike today where no one fights each other because they all have belts.

If we had one title per weight class, there wouldn’t be a single boxing champion today. I’m sure a few of them would fight each other to change that.

one title per division would be nice for simplicity, but it would have to be contingent on an honest/uncorrupt ranking/regulatory system. look at all the bs that goes on with the sanctioning bodies...if that type of stuff happened with a single org, then we could have a repeat of great fighters going through their entire careers without getting a title shot. I can't help but think if guys like Charlie burley had been able to pick up some belt and leverage it into a unification, then maybe he wouldn't be considered as one of the best fighters who ever lived, but somehow never won a title. at the end of the day, it's about the best fighting the best...if having just one title per division achieves that, I'm all for it.

You’ll have only the very best of each weight class being called a champion. Now you have 4 major titles, 4x the ducking, and 4x the mismatches. Unifying is hard as hell because of sanctioning bodies like IBF foregoing a big unification fight in favor of their top 10 ranking where some random fighter no one cares about named Savali Rumplestiltskin deserves a shot next even though he has no chance at winning and the unification fight is the better thing to do.

The lineal title can only be won in the ring. It can't given to a mandatory challenger if the the lineal title holder doesn't fight him. It's supposed to give some continuity to boxing. Often though the lineal champion is not the best fighter in the division.
