What does every fighter want? To prove they are the best in the sport
An easy way of doing that is by unifying your division. It worked for Crawford who makes way more money than Berchelt. Berchelt is afraid he might lose plain and simple.

Ok. Remember that statement when Berchelt announces his next opponent. It better be a big name and significant win. Not another rematch against a guy he'd already KO'd

So you're basically saying that Berchelt is afraid he might lose to Herring and should only accept this fight to unify

Yes he is afraid to lose. If he wasn't he would trying to unify his division like Crawford, Canelo, Usyk, Loma. All fighters who have earned more prestige(by unifying) and way more money than him. Instead he talking that Keith Thurman marinate bull**** because the Japanese fighter who was a face first brawler with little skill lost. That and name dropping people he will never fight like Gary Russell likes to do.

Well, it's like you said, realistically what bigger fights are there out there for Berchelt? Removing Herring from the equation, who would you want as his next opponent? The people really want to see Loma or Davis with Berchelt but we know that's not gonna happen. That being said, his next opponent may be an unknown as a stay busy fight. At the end of the day the man has to provide for his family

Berchelt already lost in his pro career. I doubt fear of losing is his reason not to pursue a fight with Herring. It's as clear as day, he's just not interested

You pretending like losing his title wouldn't derail his career.

How can you be certain that he loses his title to Herring? So if he were to take this fight, would that change your perception of him and everything you thought that he's not

Better go down in weight cowards. You should be fighting the midget Pacman at 140 to be recognized like beating Dela hoya!!!

I think it's to do with the fact that it's only Herring's opinion that that's why Berchelt doesn't wanna fight him. I doubt it's one he believes too much either.
