    100%.

In my record book he's 43-2 as is. And the two fights he lost were his last 2 & allegedly when his drug issues were impacting his career/performance. Maybe things woulda went differently for him behind the scenes if he'd not been robbed so many times in his big fights.

Idk, but regardless he was a bad mfer & his record should look better than it looks if he coulda been perfect or not.

Whitaker’s death feels so out of place. Like a bad alternate universe that came to life. Like it was not supposed happen. It still hasn’t sunk in. Feels like he’s still alive. Very weird feeling.

gayweather jr wasn't perfect he lost to castillo! whitaker was never a big draw so he got screwed multiple times when he should have gotten the win. he may have become a bigger star if he didn't get screwed out of those decisions. whitaker is the best defensive fighter I've ever seen his defense was actually entertaining!

Whitaker fought the best for the majority of his career, but when he moved up to 147lbs he started fighting B fighters, and he struggled in some of those fights. Then he moved up to 154lbs and instead of making a super fight with Terry Norris he picked the weakest champion won a decision and quickly went back down to 147lbs. He finally took on a big challenge against De La Hoya because the money was huge and when he lost he was sort of put in place where he had to fight better opponents so he then fought Trinidad, which he deserves a lot of credit for fighting.

Pernell one of my top favorites but I feel like he could've had an even better career with the talent and ability he had. Drugs are bad man.

No point in comparing these 2 though, different eras, different initial and boundary conditions, never a fair comparison.

If you want these 2 in the same convo you can bring up how much of an influence Pernell was to Floyd, Pernell had a young Floyd come to one of his camps and Floyd got a chance to witness how the #1 P4P fighter in the world trains and he even sparred a 16 year old Floyd at the time. No way this didn't have a huge influence on Floyd also with the similarities in style. Pernell also fought Roger in a great fight in the early 90s and I'm sure they learned a lot from that fight too.

Probably beats any lightweight in history and didn't lose to Ramirez. He was basically undefeated till he kept fighting past his prime like most fighters do

Dela Hoya won that in my eyes.

Whitaker and Mayweather are two very different fighters. Comparisons between the two being similar or the same are just lazy.

Mayweather was never as quick on his fight or have as good upper body movement, while Whitaker was not as good as mayweather offensively nor did he he have physical advantages over smaller fighters.

The ultimate difference is that mayweather was so much more dedicated whereas Whitaker did not live the life.
