GGG-murata

Could be a deal worked out to broadcast ESPN+ in the US and DAZN Japan in the Islands maybe (unless Murata's already locked into to a Japanese provider)... Ryota's a big name so potentially that's a lot of revenue in Japanese subs? DAZN i us working on their US subs, sure, but they're a global organisation so I doubt they'd be too fussed whether its ¥ or $s they're getting paid in... fact there's every chance they'd get the better end of the deal here.Comment

I'm not exactly sure about GGG's deal...but I assume he gets a bump for a Canelo fight...and maybe for certain other fights...and maybe some fights he gets less than that 16.5 million...but it may basically be 16.5 every time...Idk.
But I wasn't really saying it was a big money fight for GGG - he probably gets the same purse more or less - but it is a fight that could appeal to DAZN.
If they want to get a foothold in Japan, this could help to get subs...and that could justify paying GGG 16.5 million...tbh I think DAZN is counting on 2 more GGG-Canelo fights because otherwise GGG doesn't bring in enough money to justify 16.5 million per fight imo.
I was saying also that Murata isn't a cherry-pick though in the sense that 1) he is pretty good and 2) anyone at MW would like to fight him in Japan...it's a winnable fight and besides Canelo, it is the biggest money fight for everyone - ie - Charlo, Andrade, Jacobs etc would all take that fight in Japan, or elsewhere probably...it would pay them better than anything other than Canelo, probably even better for them than GGG.
ggg should already be at a point where he shouldnt need the muratas or munguias to generate buzz, or at least thats what i would expect out of a 100 mil contract..
but i guess we just have to wait and see. .Comment

While they don't corner the market, theyve been there a while and already seized a nice share by scoring the rights to J1, the biggest football(soccer) league in Japan. Theyre not using boxing as their driver like they are in America.
As I was saying in another thread, highly unlikely they allow GGG to face Murata at 7am US time, even if they could do the fight somewhere amazing like the Tokyo Dome.
Uncle Bob probably has designs to put Murata back on ESPN stateside anyway.
Correct, DAZN only shows international boxing in Japan, no domestic fights.Comment

? Lol...I know you like Andrade my friend...and the Murata fight would be more of an event fight than anything...but his win here over Brant is as impressive of a win at MW as we have seen in a while...he just completely ran through Brant who dominated him the first fight.
He lost a lot of shine with that loss to Brant but gained a lot of it back tonight...he is definitely a name again at MW...and a lot of guys would jump at the chance to fight him in Tokyo...probably biggest money opponent at MW besides Canelo.
I don't follow Murata like that so enlighten me on how he's this big money guy? 🤔 I don't wanna paint Instagram as the end all be all but this guy has 55k followers on IG. What kinda purse does that pull? As for the guys who would fight him in Tokyo what names you see going there? GGG aside.Comment

That would be a very fun and entertaining fight. Murata has shown that he can and loves taking asswhoopings. Hell, he even smiles while taking them.
He's a very durable guy and would give GGG rounds before eventually succumbing to Golovkin's power. The reason why I say this is because he has no defense or head movement and eats too many damn punches.
Moreover, it would be a very good stay busy fight for GGG. However, what I find so ironic, is there was not a lot of buzz, stir, interest or excitement to the build up of this rematch between Brant vs. Murata until now.
I wonder why?Comment

I'm not as impressed as you. I saw nothing that made me think he could do anything with the elite of 160. That's good for his career that he got revenge but they both have struggled with each other & that speaks volumes to me.

His win over Brant is about as impressive of a win at MW as we've had in a while though imo...but as you mentioned, a lot of that is because he struggled with Brant the first time...so the win probably looks better than it was...I agree there...but now with the 'impressive' win he has regained some of his shine that he previously had before that bad loss to Brant.
So kind of puts his name in the mix again for the 'top' guys at 160...I actually think Charlo or Andrade should take that fight...would be a winnable (very much for Andrade imo) fight for both and would probably help grow their brand some.
I do admit I can't find Murata or Brant's purses for the fight...maybe I am off on how much money that fight would do for anyone...I do think it would be an exciting event for Charlo or Andrade to do it there in Japan though...would be a good time to capitalize on Murata's recent momentum imo.
A lot of people who probably give Murata a good chance against them...and I think Charlo and Andrade are solid favorites there...if they fight there, especially if they win, I think it would give them a good little interest bump...since I can't find any info on Murata's purse, or Brant's, it may not be as big of a money fight as I thought though...Comment
