Yep true.. But that was when Jr was considered a real threat. Canelo fought him when he was considered a joke and still did a mil

    • The guy who wrote this article definitely likes to make drama like a female would like.

Simple, Canelo never had ggg in contract and ggg never had Canelo in his contract. If it happens it happens

Canelo Alvarez-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. hits 1 million pay-per-views
          https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...-pay-per-views

          Canelo/Golovkin sold $1.3m

DAZN literally would be better off paying Chavez $100m, because he will fight anyone..... they would not need to feed him Rolls-level guys

not knocking Golovkin, he got the deal of a lifetime, WAY more than he is worth..... good for him

          DAZN are wakk !! ..... wtf ?

          • So.. Canelo never wants to fight Golovkin again because he called Canelo a cheater? After he got popped for PEDs?

            ...sure.

Thats speculative & you're among the least reasonable people to comment on it. You've been plotting DAZN's demise since day 1 virtually.

There are ALWAYS growing pains with a new player. Every company in the history of business has a list of f#ck ups that hurt them for a period of time. If DAZN lives or dies depends less on if they f#cked up that one Canelo fight & more on how they avoid not f#cking up in the Canelo fights to come.

I still say a lot of there problem is internet speeds on non-smart TV's. Everyone I hear talking about DAZN viewing on smart TV's seem to be doing fine largely. Cats trying to watch on other devices, like myself, seem to be running into buffering bs from time to time. Once we are notched up to 5G speeds I suspect this problem resolves itself.

Inflation is a mfer. The price of EVERYTHING keeps going on. It'll hardly be a surprise if DAZN's pricing is altered over time like everyone else seems to do. No one is lowering their prices I know that sh^t.
Boxing's graveyard is littered with people who threw money at the sport and got out. The barrier for entry is low & people think you can spend your way to success. Roc Nation being the latest example. And that's actually a company that has expertise in promoting. Also a successful in sports players management.

But they had the same problem DAZN is having. They weren't familiar with the politics of the sport and ended up throwing good money after bad. The same thing we're watching DAZN do.

In boxing you have to be able to navigate many obstacles, do a favor for a guy one minute then have to **** him over the next and vice versa. You got promoters (big and small), managers, sanctioning orgs, and all of these are independent doing their own thing and with their own self serving agenda.

Having a lot of money means nothing in boxing. You have to be able to navigate the waters and know the politics. And their two initial choices for that (Hearn & Skipper) have no experience (Hearn in the US had no experience) But that seems to the thing you keep falling back on with DAZN. They have a lot of money so they'll succeed. If that were the case any Tom, ****, or Harry with money could have success in boxing. But at the top their are very few major players. DAZN can throw all the money they want at boxing. That won't be able to save them.

              • This clown KEITH IDEC is paid by PBC to write these anti Canelo & Oscar articles repeatedly... it’s tired and pathetic

GGG didn’t this by turning down fighting for a belt and choosing Rolls while GGG picked up the IBF Belt.

GGg has NO Belt and no demanding fight by in MSG??? I’m glad Canelo turned diva down
If the Jacobs Canelo fight didn't make any money how is Andrade gonna get new subscribers that will not cancel in a month?

DAZN is the A Side and Canelo should stop paying out Oscar half of that 33 mil per fight and listen to them.

Canelo can't run from GGG forever. He signed a contract with DAZN and it's DAZN's only money fight right now!

Roc Nation was bankroll for boxing. DAZN is bankroll for sports. Again this is the thing you keep getting wrong. DAZN isn't here to get into boxing. DAZN is here to get into sports.

Again who cares. DAZN is trying to pop its head into American SPORTS not just American BOXING. There is a difference. A huge difference

I think you are assuming DAZN is something they aren't with their involvement in boxing. DAZN isn't trying to be PBC or TR. They are trying to be HBO. HBO kept a fair distance from most of that bs you mention. They just tried to put on the best fights.

Having a lot of money in anything means SOMETHING. But yea you still gotta be smart how you use it. I agree with you there.

But if DAZN f#cks up, & they for sure could I've never argued with you about that I just argue with you over your certainty they will fail, it'll be in major sports not in boxing. Boxing is small potatoes compared to the bigger sports in the US that DAZN is trying to attain.

He is not ducking anyone. He has being favored in all his fights, even in the one he loss against floyd. But we can't say with a straight face that he is ducking. Loss against ggg in their first fight but the 2nd one, I can't argue the win. he loss against Lara and looked like a novice. I'll say that I was disappointed because EL didn't pressed the action in some exchanges. But he definitely won that fight. ginger after all the catch-weights and fighting smallest foes, has come around and fought the best competition available, with some other mismatches like Khan and the guy from 168lbs. Lara, ggg twice, cotto (on his way down, still dangerous) floyd, Trout and jacobs, not joke fights at all.
