Comments Thread For: Are Canelo, Golden Boy Headed For Standoff With DAZN?

By Keith Idec - Eight months ago, Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and John Skipper shared a stage at Madison Square Garden, celebrating an unequivocal victory for each of them. Alvarez, boxing's biggest active star, and De La Hoya, his promoter, had secured an unprecedented deal for a fighter. Their five...

Canelo just beat Jacobs but is ducking Andrade. Canelo fights Andrade but is ducking Charlo. Canelo fights Kovalev but is ducking Callum Smith. The Canelo hate is strong. Most impressive resume in boxing has defeated 15 world champions and a four division titlist. Already has a hall of fame career but that doesn't matter to these so called boxing fans.

Don’t see it. Canelo signed and eventually GB will concede to the fights DAZN wants. They’re the ones with the cash and ultimately call the shots.

Oscar will eventually fold. That makes me wonder if Canelo will soon get tired of Oscar not getting him what he wants & then completely cutting him out the picture. In all fairness he doesn't need Oscar anymore. Nelo has picked up a lot from Floyd wonder if he'll do what Floyd did and start his own sh-t so he can really do what he wants with his career

I've wondered this myself. They over-pay him, expecting certain fights, and he pulls this shyt?
I'm sure the "A-side" ****** will chime in.

Totally agree. This forum is filled with so much " ducking" talk that it is sickening. Wilder has fought Ortiz and Fury but is ducking g****fruit head Whyte? Not realistic or possible. Same with Canelo. He just fought Jacobs! How is he ducking anyone? Enough already! To all the clowns on this site! Go to a circus forum and leave boxing alone!

GGG better hope Nelo fights him next. Cuz if Cinnamon chooses someone else, he’s gonna have to get off that tomato can diet and go fight Charlo, Derev or Andrade.

What did DAZN expect to happen when they invested 300 million dollars in a overrated ducker hypejob who came to fame for being a red headed Mexican, nothing else, and then bartered that fame into corrupt judging and favorable matchmaking, including only facing top fighters like GGG once they were 35 years old? No one but Mexican fans and hardcore racist boxing fans who hate GGG like Canelo, everyone else remembers him ducking the prime version of GGG, and ruining a great matchup, to instead give the fans a past its sell by date, half-cooked version of the same fight years later, or, they don't follow boxing anyway.

It seems like everything wrong with boxing is coming to a head here, and DAZN is ground zero. They made their bed signing this hypejob, now they're stuck with him.

Alvarez’s disinterest in this third fight has much more to do with his disdain for Golovkin, who repeatedly angered Alvarez before their rematch by calling him a “cheater” because Alvarez tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
When it did become popular and acceptable in boxing to use "I don't like that guy" as an excuse not to fight someone? Throughout boxing history, and in every other walk of life, not liking someone is something that causes people to WANT to fight that person, not AVOID fighting them.

So this is either a bull**** excuse to duck, or it's ridiculous. This truly is the diva, scaredycat era of boxing.
